The UN Security Council held a closed session on Wednesday evening on the Iranian nuclear program, after which the United States accused Iran of violating its obligations and called on the council to condemn this behavior, while Britain warned that it would raise the issue of re -imposing sanctions on Iran, Tehran confirmed that any attempt to force it to an unjust nuclear agreement will fail.
At the request of a number of its members (the United States, Britain, France, Greece, Panama and South Korea), the Security Council held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss a report issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency recently and said that Tehran increased its reserves in a “very disturbing” way.
Following the meeting, the American mission to the United Nations said in a statement that US President Donald Trump was clear that the Iranian nuclear program was a threat to international peace and security, and that the Security Council is responsible for protecting them, “accusing Tehran” of the challenge of the Council. “
The American mission also accused Iran of challenging the Security Council and violating its obligations towards the Atomic Agency, and called on the Council to be clear and unified in addressing what it described and convicted of this shameless behavior.
In its statement, the American mission pledged that the United States continued to “implement President Trump’s strategy to exert maximum pressure on Iran to prevent it from possessing an atomic weapon.
The statement said that Iran is “the only country in the world that does not have nuclear weapons and produces highly enriched uranium that has no peaceful purpose.”
For his part, James Cariocke, Deputy British Ambassador to the United Nations, again sparked the possibility of activating the mechanism called “Return to the previous situation”, which is termed for the “Snap Pak” mechanism that allows the re -imposition of international sanctions on Tehran.
“We are clear that we will take any diplomatic measures to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and this includes the use of the mechanism of re -imposing sanctions, if necessary,” the British diplomat told reporters before the meeting.
Britain, France and Germany have already sent a message in this sense to the UN Security Council last December.

Iranian position
On the other hand, the Iranian delegate to the United Nations accused Amir Said Irwani yesterday evening, the United States of seeking to use the UN Security Council as a weapon “to escalate the economic war on it.” “This dangerous violation must be rejected to protect the credibility of the council,” she added in a post on the X platform.
The Iranian delegate to the United Nations said yesterday evening, Wednesday, that the responsibility for the current situation is fully lies with the violation of the nuclear agreement, stressing that Any attempt to force his country on an unjust nuclear agreement will fail.
The Iranian delegate repeated his country’s position not to negotiate under pressure and not to surrender to threats and acceptance of dictates. His country’s nuclear program is peaceful and will remain so and we have no intention to change our defensive faith.
In a related context, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Washington is seeking to link the new nuclear agreement with Iran with conditions that require it to undergo searches to ensure that they do not support groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria or any other place, which are conditions governed by failure; He called for the re -action of the previous agreement from which the United States withdrew.
Tehran always confirms that its nuclear program is peaceful and that it does not seek to develop an atomic weapon.
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency warned that Iran is “strongly” its reserves of extracted uranium by 60%, a threshold close to the 90% necessary to produce a nuclear weapon.
Western countries say that there is no need for such a high level of uranium enrichment in any civil program, and that no other country has never done this without the desire to produce nuclear bombs. Iran confirms that its nuclear program is peaceful.
Since his return to the White House in January, Trump has re -worked with the policy of “the maximum pressure” he adopted towards Tehran during his first term, but at the same time he talked about seeking a new agreement on its nuclear program, instead of the 2015 agreement from which his country withdrew unilaterally in 2018.
Trump revealed on Friday that he sent a message to the Supreme Leader in Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in which he pressed to negotiate the nuclear file, or confront a possible military action.
And Wednesday, Khamenei said that the American threats are “universal” and that “negotiation with this American government will not lead to the lifting of sanctions … but rather will make the sanctions more severe.”
The Supreme Leader affirmed that his country “does not seek to have a nuclear weapon” and that the United States’ call to talks aims to “deceive world public opinion.”
