Mogadishu- The Somali Army Staff Command announced the killing of 50 Somali youth members, including a prominent leader in an air strike on the town of “Damsha Shabilo” in the Central Shabili province in the local state of Hirspillie last Monday.
A statement of the Army Command, published by government television, stated that “the international partners of the Somalia carried out, in cooperation with the Somali army, an accurate plan that targeted the movement’s elements in the south of the country.”
The statement also stated that the air strike led to the killing of 50 members of the youth, including the prominent leader “Mansour Tamouini”, the official in the movement’s land transport operations.
The statement pointed out that the leader who was killed in the operation arrived in the Central Shabili region from the town of Polo Fly, and with him cars that the movement used to carry out the suicide bombings.
This raid comes a day after attacks by youth elements on a residential building in which the elders of tribes and military officers were residing and conducting security consultations against the movement in Baldwin in the center of Hiran region, killing 10 people, including two tribal elders, along with a number of government soldiers.
The Hiran and Central Shibli region is witnessing fierce battles between the Somali army in cooperation with the local population and the fighters of the youth who launched an extensive attack on these two regions, in an attempt to restore the areas they lost in recent military operations in front of the Somali army.
