The “legal note” in its office in Badaru held a press conference last Wednesday to announce the judicial decision that proves the responsibility of the state in the injustice of the playwright Ziad Itani to show the importance of this decision and its implications. In the details, this decision was issued by the State Shura Council after 7 years of fabrication of the accusation of employment of Atani, which accompanied a campaign on social media, in which some media outlets participated, condemned the latter and incited it by leaking investigations reports before any ruling was issued.
The Shura decision explicitly announces that the Lebanese state is responsible for the damage to my belt and obliges the government to pay financial compensation to it. It is worth noting that the decision was issued last December by the first chamber of the Shura Council consisting of President Walid Jaber, consultants Chantal Abu Yazbek and Sarah Sandar.
In his conversation with “Al -Nahar”, Itani considered that “this decision gave me my great moral right represented by the state’s recognition of its mistake in the hope that the officials will be punished, especially the security personnel,” adding, “He also opens a large gate to avoid preventing any detainee from his rights represented by the presence of a lawyer and a fair trial, which is the first of many who were exposed to injustice.”
Itani hopes that “this judicial step will be comprehensive for the victims of the banner’s explosion and some detainees who know that they are Islamists, as some of them have proven their innocence without compensating for them.”
On the importance of this decision from the broader perspective, the founder of the “legal note”, lawyer Nizar Sagia, explains that this decision is a sign of the beginning of a justice workshop, and adds, “The decision guarantees the fair trial of the weakest team and fights the strongest success of the team of punishment and courtesy in promotion and appointments against the perpetrators,” explaining, “This is a text that was considered the promotion of any person who is a direct damage to the sacrifice The minister and the government who present this act are responsible.
Sagheya notes that the decision “stated the issue of the absence of a media council and a consequently, some media outlets, etiquette, rules and controls that may affect the presumption of innocence, have been killed.”
Sagheya concludes with the notification that the decision condemned the existence of a “black room” to investigate the “State Security”, considering that this room facilitates torture and thus the state should remove it immediately.
