To the presidents of the Republic and the government: Do not ignore the priority of disarmament

The recent statements of Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri were on the issue of “restricting arms in the hands of the state”, or in a more accurate sense of the disarmament of “Hezbollah” as a warning bell of the Lebanese public opinion. Through the hadith of Metri calm and sober, and if he returns and issued a statement in which he explains his position, the true mood of rule in Lebanon appears. When we talk about the ruling, we mean by that government and the presidency of the republic.

We do not doubt the intentions of the presidents of the republic and the government in terms of enabling the state to completely extend its authority over Lebanese soil without a partner, competitor, or any illegal party looking for weapons as it is today. But apparently, the ruling in Lebanon in general tends to play on the factor of time, and the policy of “suppressing beards” and the sheikhs of reconciliation who are betting on one factor only is the factor of contentment between the conflicting parties.

The fact is that President Mitri’s words before the clarification came after a television interview made by the Secretary -General of Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem, in which he spoke on the basis that nothing has changed in Lebanon, and that Resolution 1701 does not exceed the range of the “UNIFIL” operations area in the south, and that what he called the resistance remains, and the army is working to maintain security in Lebanon, and “resistance” is another issue outside the contexts of the Lebanese armed forces.

Moreover, during the visit of the President of the Republic Joseph Aoun to Riyadh, it was a statement by the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri saying in conjunction with the position of the “Hamas” movement on its situation in Gaza, which means that the weapon of Hezbollah and the other militias are not climbing with reconstruction aid. And that a fluid position on the government comes in relation to the Hezbollah weapon, which is very dangerous because ignoring the danger of dealing with indifference with the illegal “Hezbollah” weapon, and betting on the time factor will first topple the impulse of the covenant, and kill the government in the cradle. We recall here the precedent of Michel Aoun, who ended in one of the Egyptian television stations that the Lebanese army is unable to carry out its tasks, and that the “Hezbollah” weapon is necessary until the end of the Arab -Israeli conflict. As for the first government, headed by President Saad Hariri, it ended with the adoption of Michel Aoun, the policy of sorting Lebanon from the Arab world.

We are facing a new reality in Lebanon, and a historical opportunity to establish the state project. Therefore, we ask the two presidents Aoun and Salam not to see us on the time factor, and we ask them to open negotiations with Hezbollah and the “Amal” movement in parallel with urgent procedural negotiations with the Palestinian National Authority and armed factions on Lebanese territory to program the handover of weapons, all illegal weapons on Lebanese territory. The sin must be accelerated in the south, the “UNIFIL” operations area of ​​every illegal weapon, and the understanding of the “Shiite duo” that the illegal disarmament is a Lebanese demand, not an Israeli.

The negligence in the issue of Hezbollah’s weapon, its military and security structure and its regional function will be a reason at the end of the era and the government prematurely. Do not sleep on “silk” time. Be careful.
