
The percentage of dams in Morocco witnessed a remarkable increase during the past days, thanks to the rainfall that has known several regions in the country.
According to the registered data, the rains contributed to the strengthening of the water stock, which led to a gradual increase in the percentage of filling, while some ponds exceeded a 50%barrier. This improvement is a positive indication of the recovery of water resources, especially after a period of water deficit that some areas have suffered.
The total percentage of filling dams in Morocco until Thursday reached 31.3%, with available water resources that rise to five billion and 271 million cubic meters, while during the same day of the past year it did not exceed 26.43 percent, with a reserve of four billion and 260 million cubic meters.
The percentage of dams was known since the beginning of this month and to the limits of today, Thursday, by 3.5 percent, as it was on March 1st at 27.7 percent, which was the percentage that it settled for throughout the days, and since the beginning of the year, but soon it increased as a result of the last rains to reach 31.3 percent, with expectations to rise more.
Five fully fully filled with 100% until today’s date; It is “Ali Oued Za”, which has a volume of 94.9 million cubic meters, and “Bouhdawa” with a capacity of 44.8 million cubic meters, in addition to the Chefchaouen dams, the palm tree, and Sidi Saeed Moesho.
The latest data on the percentage of dams in Morocco indicates a clear disparity between the water basins, as some witnessed an improvement compared to the previous year, while some ponds still suffer from a low filling percentage.
The list of water basins in Morocco in terms of the percentage of dams currently leads Ziz Kiir Grace by 53.23%, followed by Tensift by 52.13%, then Lucos, which recorded 50.90%, and the Abi Raqraq Basin comes 47.55%, while spo and Molwa occupied medium ranks at 40.27%and 38.58%, respectively. On the other hand, the southern ponds recorded lower, as the filling of the dams of the Wadi Noun armor reached 30.99%, while the Souss Massa basin recorded 18.48%. As for the lowest percentage of filling, it was in the or spring basin, which did not exceed 7.61%, which reflects the continuation of the water deficit in this region.
