Two informed sources said that Russia has submitted to the United States a list of demands to agree to an agreement that ends its war on Ukraine and resets relations with Washington. Russia’s demands have not yet been clear, or whether it was ready to enter peace talks with Kiev before accepting it. The two sources said that Russian officials and Americans discussed the conditions during attendance and virtual talks over the past three weeks.
The two sources described the conditions of the Kremlin as loose and similar to the demands he previously submitted to Ukraine, the United States and NATO (NATO). These previous conditions included not to join Kiev to (NATO), to conclude an agreement not to deploy foreign forces in Ukraine, and internationally recognize the allegations of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the dependency of the Crimea and four provinces of Russia. Russia has also called on the United States and (NATO) in recent years to address what it described as the “root causes” of the war, including the expansion of NATO.
US President Donald Trump is awaiting a decision from Putin regarding his approval of a 30 -day truce, which Ukrainian President Voludmir Zellinski announced last Tuesday that he would accept it as a first step towards peace talks. Putin’s commitment to a potential ceasefire is still inaccurate, and its details have not yet been decided.
On Wednesday, Russian sources said that it is not likely that Putin will accept the American proposal to a 30 -day ceasefire in Ukraine, and that any agreement should take into account the Russian progress in the battlefield and deal with Moscow’s concerns. The Kremlin announced that Russia is waiting for the United States to inform its proposal on the armistice with Kiev, the day after the latter approval of it at a meeting between Ukrainian and American officials in Saudi Arabia. “We have expected contacts with the Americans in the coming days, and we consider it for full information,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, noting that a “high -level phone call” between Putin and Trump may happen within a “very short period”, “said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
In a retreat from the previous US policy towards Russia, Trump had bilateral talks with Moscow and suspended military aid and the exchange of intelligence information with Ukraine, saying that Kiev should agree on conditions for ending the war. The United States agreed on Tuesday to resume military aid and exchange intelligence information, after Kiev announced its willingness to accept the ceasefire proposal.
