The Administrative Judicial Court of the State Council set the next May 11 session to consider the lawsuit submitted by the lawyer, Dr. Hani Sameh, which demands the cancellation of the license of the “Al -Rahma” satellite channel and the ban on its pages on social media, in addition to stopping its broadcast, freezing its activities and referring its broadcasters to disciplinary accountability.
The lawsuit is based on the accusation of the channel of spreading extremist Salafi thought, hosting personalities known for its inflammatory speech and exploiting the channel’s pulpit to promote ideas calling for polygamy.
The lawsuit confirmed that the channel violates the Egyptian constitution and the media organization law, which prohibits granting licenses to media outlets based on a religious basis or inciting hatred and violence.
It also referred to the channel’s violation of the law of rhetoric and religious lessons, which restricts the practice of this activity without specialists accredited by the Ministry of Endowments or Al -Azhar.
The lawsuit called for the cancellation of the negative decision issued by the Supreme Council for the Regulation of Media and the National Communications Regulatory Agency, to refrain from canceling the channel’s license and stopping its broadcasters and its conversations from practicing media and advocacy work, given that they did not obtain the necessary official licenses.
