
Today (Wednesday), the African Union warned of the danger of dividing Sudan, denouncing the direction of the Rapid Support Forces and its allies to form a parallel government in Sudan.
The African Union said in a statement: “We do not recognize what is called the parallel government or the parallel entity in Sudan,” calling on all members of the members as well as the international community not to recognize any government or parallel entity aimed at dividing Sudan or its institutions and rule part of its lands.
He pointed out that this step taken by the Rapid Support Forces and allied forces represents a serious threat to the unity of the country, and opens the door to the dangers of partition, reiterating its adherence to the African road map to resolve the Sudanese crisis adopted by the Council in May 2023.
The African Union’s decision was welcomed by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praising the full international rejection of what it described as a “rapid support plot”.
The European Union has announced that the formation of a parallel government threatens the aspirations of the Sudanese people to democracy and restore civil rule, and may lead to the division of the country.
The Rapid Support Forces and its allies in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, signed a constituent charter, according to which they announced their intention to form a peace government and unity in the areas they control.
The Sudanese army was able to extend its control over strategic locations in the city of El Fasher, north of Darfur, after violent battles with the Rapid Support Forces.
The Sudanese military media announced today that the armed forces – with the support of the movements of the armed struggle and the joint forces – were able to thwart “rapid support” plans and weaken their combat ability in the region.
A statement by the armed forces stated that the elements of “quick support” launched an intense attack on El -Fasher, using more than 50 running aircraft accompanied by artillery shelling that lasted for more than six hours, but the army forces managed to destroy seven monuments before they reached their targets, as well as the destruction of two fighting vehicles and a truck that was carrying elements of “rapid support”.
