On Wednesday, workers of the “Ozun” company in the city of Al -Faqih Bin Saleh organized a warning protest in front of the regional labor headquarters, with the support of the local union of the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) and the regional office of the National Syndicate of Communities, Education and Management.
The protesters emphasized that their movement comes as a denunciation of the frequent delay in paying wages, which negatively affected their social and material conditions, especially in light of the high costs of living during the month of Ramadan, and they indicated that this delay caused the accumulation of banking fines on them, as a result of their inability to pay the monthly loan and bills of water, electricity and rental, in addition to the difficulty of covering the costs of medicines and basic needs of their families.
The protesters echoed slogans condemning what they described as “the company’s management” in the disbursement of wages, and its lack of respect for the specific legal deadlines, noting that this crisis lasted for a whole year without concrete solutions, despite the dialogue sessions that brought together the various parties involved, including the current and previous collective councils, the management of the company, the employment of the region, the labor inspector, the mandate, and the National Social Security Fund.
In a speech to the representatives of the Democratic Confederation of Labor during the stand, they stressed that the company did not adhere to the contents of many of the minutes of the meetings that were signed to resolve this conflict, as they referred to what they described as “several violations” related to the absence of health and safety methods, and the severe shortage of work equipment and mechanisms, which exposes workers to professional risks and serious jobs.
Representatives of the union called on the responsible authorities to assume their responsibilities towards this “crisis” situation, warning of its negative environmental repercussions on the city; They also called on the competent authorities to search for urgent legal solutions to ensure the payment of workers ’wages within their legal deadlines.
In a related context, the Confederation Office of the company’s workers announced, at the conclusion of the protest, that in the event that the administration continues to be delayed and a radical solution to this crisis will continue, the protests will be escalated by fighting a strike during the next week.
