
The African Union has warned that the formation of the Rapid Support Forces and its allies is a parallel government in Sudan threatening to divide the country where a war has been going on for more than two years.
In a statement today (Wednesday), the bloc condemned the announcement of the rapid support forces and the political and social forces associated with it, to form a parallel government in Sudan, warning that this step represents a tremendous threat to dividing the country.
Since April 2023, Sudan has drowned in a fierce war between the army led by Abdel Fattah al -Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Muhammad Hamdan Daglo. The war divided the country into two parts with the army’s control of the north and the east, while the Rapid Support Forces control almost every Darfur region and areas from the south. The war claimed tens of thousands, and led to the spread of famine in parts of the country, while 8 million, on the brink of starvation.
The war resulted in the flight of about 3.5 million people across the border since the outbreak of the war, while 11.5 million people were displaced at home, at a time when many face hunger. The United Nations describes what is happening in Sudan as the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

For its part, the International Organization for Migration announced yesterday (Monday) that about 400,000 Sudanese returned to their homes during the past two and a half months after their displacement due to the ongoing conflict.
About 39,6737 people have returned between December and March last to areas that the army recovered from rapid support after making progress across central Sudan in recent months, according to the United Nations Immigration Agency.
While all the displaced returned to their homes in the state of Sennar, central Sudan, which the army regained the largest part of it in December, and the state of the island, which it recovered the following month. Thousands of others returned to the capital, Khartoum, when the army forces last month regained large areas and made strategic progress against the Rapid Support Forces.
