20 years passed since the March 14 2005 revolution in Lebanon, after the assassination of the martyr President Rafik Hariri and the withdrawal of the Syrian occupation from Lebanon.
March 14 is a glorious day in the history of Lebanon, which revived hope to the hearts of the Lebanese, and is still a continuous situation, to this day, remaining and continuous, forever and ever, as stated in the department of the martyr Gibran Tueni, who was shouting from the Martyrs Square to all regions and sects of Lebanon.
On this anniversary, “Al -Nahar” has dedicated a file to discuss a number of political articles on the meanings of the March 14 revolution, and what remains of them today, in addition to the meanings of the Tueni department, which has become a “national anthem” preserved by generations by heart. We also remember with you the martyrs of the revolution and their struggle, and the most prominent of their political action stations.
Here are file materials today:
1- Nabil Bouminsl: March 14 … Where is the “loyal” for that revolution?
The greatest sovereign revolution did not need independence that Lebanon has known in its modern history on the anniversary of the passage of two decades on its “ignition” on March 14, 2005 to crying over the ruins of what he stood up and what was not stood up from them; That revolution, which brought together the largest crowd of two million Lebanese transites for sects, sects and regions all witnessed by Lebanon in the history of its origin, has been extracted since that day that you see in Lebanon except rarely, a historical characteristic of the sovereign revolution with distinction with criteria that must be re -considered on the twentieth anniversary of its revival.
2- Ghassan Hajjar: March 14 is renewed every morning
March 14 was not a time station, for only one day. It is an ongoing extension and journey in time. It is the story of the Lebanese eagerness to freedom and liberation from all forms of commandments and occupations, the dreamer of a better homeland, for him and his builders after him.
March 14, 2005 was not a passing station, it was a real “venting” moment, to extend human being, tired of the form of life that was imposed on it, and the moment of revenge on the foregoing, and the attempt to live the dream and make it a reality, and most importantly, it is the moment the barriers and crossings were dropped to meet together in the heart of the country. 3- Iskandar Khashasho: What remains of the March 14, 2005 alliances?
The date of March 14, 2005 represented a detailed moment in the contemporary history of Lebanon, where the Lebanese went out in mass demonstrations after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, demanding the withdrawal of the Syrian forces from Lebanon and the establishment of a free and independent state. The coalition, which was formed after these events, known as the “March 14 Alliance”, included a group of political forces that united about the principles of sovereignty and independence, in the forefront of which are the “Future Movement” led by Saad Hariri, the Progressive Socialist Party led by Walid Jumblatt, and the “Lebanese Forces” led by Samir Geagea, and the Lebanese Brigades headed by Amin Gemayel, in addition to a group of independent figures and some Christian currents. 5- Montalisa Fariha: The Syrian regime fell in Beirut before Damascus: a 3-year-old journey of deterrent to … “Syria by land”
“Syria is overland by land”, “Syria is land … Beirut is free”, “Enough of a guardianship” … slogans were wasted by the throats in the heart of Beirut on this day twenty years ago, while it was a red and white wave that was spreading the Martyrs Square in the largest popular demonstration witnessed by Lebanon since independence.
These chants were the strongest cry against the Syrian presence whose roots date back to 1976, that is, a year after the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war, when the Syrian forces entered as part of the Arab deterrent forces, then the Syrian government succeeded in establishing its presence and turning it a guardianship that lasted for nearly three decades. 6- How did Gibran write his department and went to the Martyrs Square? “Let me live … and think about Lebanon first and foremost.”
“Gibran Tueni could have chosen the easiest way, but he refused. At the time of the tranquility, he chose the difficult way, because his choice was a promise to the youth of Lebanon, and it was a section in the March 14 square.” This is how the newspaper “Al-Nahar” wrote on 13-12-2005, entitled “Promise and Division”, the day after the fateful event.
Thus, the Gibran section has become that promise that does not die. His entire life was “between the promise and the oath.” The promise to build Lebanon, “Al -Sayyid, Al -Hur, Independent”, and the department in its life for the sake of the unity of Muslims and Christians. He was martyred while he was still screaming: “In defense of the great Lebanon.”For more click here.

8- Lucian Shahwan: We and March 2005 … and young dreams
Like any young adult, he bursts vitality and ambitious, I was looking at my future with antiquity and faith in what he would have of beautiful things. In the spring of 2005, I was not alone in this case of anticipation, all of Lebanon was living in a new birth. The squares were throats, and the faces were shining with a dream, and the flags of rice fluttering in the sky of Beirut to condemn the Syrian occupation of Lebanon.
At that moment, I was also on the threshold of a new stage, a university student taking his first steps towards achieving his dreams, and I feel that my personal launch intersects with the start of the country. It seemed to me that the future will be made by our generation, we young people who carried the study books and chanted for freedom at the same time, we dream of politics as we dream of our own lives, we believe that change is not only a slogan but rather an inevitable amount. 11- Khadr Ghadban for Al-Nahar: On March 14, we broke the barrier
The independence uprising in 2005 is a detailed station in the history of the Lebanese struggle, and it will not be repeated easily, because it was the fruit of years of efforts made by youth and students in the sovereign forces, “says a member of the Progressive Council of Progressive Party, Khadr Ghadban, in his interview with” Al -Nahar “.
He regains anger at that stage, saying: “At that time, I was responsible for the youth and students sector in the Progressive Socialist Party, and we were coordinating with the various youth organizations that were collected by one case: restoring national sovereignty. What happened was the result of the moment, but rather the result of the accumulation of five years of communication and coordination between the Free Patriotic Movement, the Lebanese forces, the battalions, and the free, under one slogan is freedom, sovereignty and independence.”For more click here.
