After a few minutes of fireworks festival, around 8:30 p.m., the Pioneiros Square finally lit up, illuminating the main streets and decorated points.
Magical environment and innovations in decoration.
This year’s edition has 1.5 million LED bulbs. Places such as Serra Lima, Pioneiros, Vigíssimo and Mário Rocha squares, as well as Avenida Minas Gerais, Rua Marechal Floriano and the façade of the City Hall building remained illuminated throughout the month of December.
Decorations include creative shapes such as kites, balloons, bells and even a replica of the Eiffel Tower. The highlight is a nine-meter LED tree, which changes color and displays drawings, providing a visual experience.
Association that strengthens tradition
The Illuminated Christmas, carried out by the City Council in collaboration with the Commercial and Business Association of Governador Valadares (ACE-GV), has been a tradition since 2017, delighting neighbors and attracting visitors.
“We are going to have a special party for Governor Valadares do Natal Iluminado. Since 2017, we just haven’t done it during the pandemic, right? I hope that the Valadarian people enjoy it and that everyone from the region who comes here to celebrate our Christmas leaves very satisfied. So, it’s going to be a much bigger Christmas than in recent years. I hope you all like it. Christmas Illuminated is special because of who they are and I am who they are. So, we know that celebration and growth is your God Christ. Already in a different time of our life, of our family life. […] They say that the city is happy when families are in the squares, right? And in addition to commerce, of course, it moves the city and the entire region and comes to spend in our commerce, which is very important, so much so that those who are involved here, I would like to thank all the sponsors who are in commerce and supporters of our City Council,” said Mayor André Merlo (União).
Varied cultural programming
To liven up the Christmas nights, the City Council organized a cultural agenda full of music and presentations. At the inauguration, this Friday, the Christmas Cantata of the Colégio Clóvis Salgado and the country show of Marlon Henrique set the rhythm of the first night of Illuminated Christmas.
“In addition to the objective of further boosting the city’s trade and economy as a result. There we will also have some events in Praça dos Pioneiros, from Thursday to Sunday, there will be some events held by the Department of Culture and Sports Leisure with the aim of bringing people here. So people will be able to enjoy it, there will also be a Food Court, which they will be able to enjoy in this moment of fun and enjoy and see this illuminated Christmas, which is so beautiful. Thank you very much, good evening,” said Stéfano Couri, president of the Commercial and Business Association of Governador Valadares (ACE-GV).
Local artists and groups will perform until December 23, such as the Orquestra de Viola Vozes do Rio Doce, the Orquestra Filarmónica de Governador Valadares and the singer Renato Faria. The program also includes interactive activities, such as a dance fitness class and the arrival of Santa Claus, scheduled for December 21, with a distribution of toys.
