EcoRodovias wins Nova Raposo concession for R$ 2.1 billion
The company EcoRodovias Concessões e Serviços won this Thursday (28) the auction of the Nova Raposo concession, with a bid of R$ 2.1 billion, surpassing three other competitors. The event held at B3, in São Paulo, closes the 2024 Auction Marathon promoted by the Government of São Paulo for concessions and public-private partnerships (PPP).
The project is part of the Investment Partnership Program of the State of Sao Paulo (PPI-SP) and foresees an investment of R$ 7.9 billion during the 30 years of the concession. The resources will be applied to improvements of 92 kilometers on three roads: SP-280, SP-270, SP-029, in addition to the municipal section between the municipalities of Cotia and Embu das Artes, parallel to Rodoanel Oeste. In total, ten municipalities will benefit: Araçariguama, Barueri, Cotia, Itapevi, Jandira, Osasco, Santana de Parnaíba, São Paulo, Itapecerica da Serra and Embu das Artes.
The concession of the Lot Nova Raposo will bring more traffic safety, according to the state government, especially on the Cotia-São Paulo stretch, which is currently one of those with the highest number of accidents in the state. The investments include better access to neighborhoods, reduction of rates in existing tolls, better traffic flow when reaching the capital, with the implementation of additional lanes, marginal roads, as well as new devices such as pedestrian walkways and bus stops.
In the Nova Raposo lot, more than 40 kilometers of continuous marginal roads will be implemented along the entire urban section between São Paulo and Cotia, in both directions, designed to offer greater fluidity and safety to vehicle users, pedestrians and cyclists. Bus stops will be relocated to the marginal road, in safer locations and with more urbanized characteristics.
Tariff justice
The Lote Nova Raposo road concession will have the implementation of gantries of the automatic system known as free flow, which reads labels and identifies license plates and vehicles to collect the rate. The solution will provide benefits to users along the entire stretch by optimizing the flow of vehicles, reducing congestion, as well as reducing the time spent at tolls and the subsequent emission of C02.
The automatic system will be implemented along its entire length, allowing fairer charging for the distance traveled by users. There will also be a Frequent User Discount (DUF) for those who use the route. If the driver passes the same section more than ten times, the amount charged will be reduced by 10%. From the 21st pass the reduction will be 20%. Additionally, those who have tags installed on their vehicles will receive a 5% discount.
Furthermore, with the end of the ViaOeste contract, the existing toll plazas will have their values revised and, starting in April 2025, the average reduction will be 28% in the Osasco, Barueri and Itapevi plazas, located in Rodovia. Castello White.
Another important point is that on the Raposo Tavares Highway, in the section between Cotia and São Paulo, tolls will only be collected on highways. The charge will only be made once the road installation works are completed, where there will be no charge. The interventions are expected to conclude in the eighth year of the concession.
