This Saturday morning (30), residents of the Brivaldo Medeiros Complex, in Palmeira dos Índios, held a protest in front of the residence, on AL-115, to demand immediate solutions from the Alagoas Sanitation Company (Casal) for the lack of water that has been going on for more than 15 days.
Protesters partially blocked access to the complex, displaying banners and posters with messages of outrage. “It is not fair to pay for a service that we do not receive. We have been without water for more than two weeks and no one gives us a concrete explanation,” said Maria da Conceição, a resident of the complex for five years.
According to residents, the lack of water has seriously impacted the routine of families, who depend on water tankers for basic activities such as personal hygiene, domestic cleaning and food preparation. “In addition to the inconvenience, we have to spend what we don’t have to buy water,” said one of the neighbors.
According to protesters, the problem has persisted for years, but has worsened in recent weeks.
Tribuna do Sertão will follow the case to keep the population informed.
