This Thursday (28), ComScore used its social networks to spread the news that the Brazilian film “I’m Still Here” surpassed “Wicked” and “Gladiator 2” in Brazilian cinemas. Starring Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello and with almost 42 million reais raised, the film occupies 2nd place in the ranking of the most viewed national films since the pandemic.
Box office success
With the possibility of winning the Oscar 2025 in the “Best International Film” category, Brazilian viewers went to the cinemas to witness first-hand the film that was so successful at the Toronto, London and New York festivals, in addition to winning an award at the Venice festival in the “Best Screenplay” category.
Screened in Brazil since the beginning of November, at least 2 million Brazilians have already seen the film, which received numerous positive comments on social networks. “This movie is worthy! Worthy of all the praise, worthy of all the awards, nominations.”commented one Internet user.

With more than 41.8 reais at the box office in Brazil alone, the work is already a success and is already the 2nd most viewed film after the pandemic, with 1st place occupied by “Minha Irmã e Eu”, the comedy starring Tatá Werneck and Ingrid Guimarães.
a true story
The acclaimed film was directed by Walter Salles (Central do Brasil, 1998) and is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, which tells the story of his mother, Eunice Paiva, and her fight as a human rights defender. Activist during the period of the military regime, in 1970.
Marcelo’s father, Congressman Rubens Paiva, was kidnapped and murdered, and is one of the hundreds of people who suffered the same fate during the dictatorship. The book was a way for Marcelo to tell the moving story of his mother’s struggle during a very painful period for the Paiva family.
Tribute
Actress Fernanda Torres, who plays Eunice in the film, decided to visit Eunice Paiva’s grave, a year after filming finished. She shared the moment on social networks and commented on the honor she feels for having given life to Eunice in the film, and being very grateful to the activist who became a symbol of resilience and struggle during the dictatorship.
