The Gross Value of Production (GVP) of Brazilian agriculture for 2024 is estimated at R$ 1.29 trillion, which represents a reduction of 1.9% compared to the result recorded the previous year.

The indicator, published this Thursday (21) by the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (ANC), It reflects the gross income obtained within rural establishments, covering both agricultural and livestock production, based on the average prices received by producers throughout the country.

Agriculture: soybeans and corn put pressure on results

In agriculture, the estimated VBP is R$ 856 billion, a drop of 4% compared to 2023. Soybeans, responsible for 38% of the agricultural VBP, registered a decline of 15.7% in the year, as a result of the drop of 11.7% in prices and 4.5% in production.

Corn, the second largest contribution to agriculture (14.4%), follows a similar trend, with a drop of 18.9%, impacted by the 7.5% drop in prices and 12.3% in production. production.

For its part, sugar cane, which represents 12% of the agricultural VBP, presents an increase of 3.3% in the projected value, driven by the 4.6% increase in prices, despite a decrease in the 1.24% in production.

Livestock: stable meat, milk is high

The livestock segment, for its part, will reach R$ 431,257 million, marking a growth of 2.5% compared to the previous year.

Beef, which represents 44.6% of livestock VBP, faces a 6% price drop, but benefits from a 6.6% increase in production, resulting in a marginal increase of 0, 3% in the VBP.

Milk production, which corresponds to 21.5% of the livestock VBP, registered an increase of 3.3% in prices and 0.4% in production, contributing to the growth of the segment.

The balance reflects the dynamics of prices and production in the main agricultural sectors, indicating challenges for agriculture and moderate opportunities in the livestock segment.
