Sao Paulo – A 34-year-old man was arrested red-handed this Thursday (11/21), suspected of killing a cheese seller in front of a Rehabilitation Center located on Rua Warner, in Jardim Hollywood, in São Bernardo do Campo, metropolitan region of Sao Paulo.
According to the police report (BO), obtained by MetropolisAnother victim, who is a school van driver, was also stabbed by the attacker, identified as Lucas Bonesso Vaz.
The driver told authorities he was inside his vehicle, waiting for the students to get out, when he heard screams. He says he saw how the merchant was killed.
The victim also said that he was unable to identify the gun used by the attacker and that he tried to help, but ended up being shot.
Two other witnesses interviewed by the investigation stated that they saw Lucas attack the victims with a pocket knife. According to police records, the suspect fled into a wooded area.
Military police were called and located the suspect. When they arrested him, he did not resist. According to the agents, the suspect seemed “quite upset,” told the guards that he was only defending himself and “that the dogs kept biting.”
Lucas was found shirtless, with bloody arms and in possession of the knife used in the crime in his pocket.
The victims were rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and only realized he was injured when he was treated. The merchant did not resist and died at the scene.
The case was registered as a homicide by the 2nd DP of São Bernardo do Campo. The Civil Police has already requested that the suspect’s detention be converted into preventive detention.
