An unexpected romance captivated the internet when golden retriever Nina appeared with her puppies for the first time in October. The nine babies in the litter, however, are the result of an unusual mix: a golden and a shi tzu. Now, at just two months old, Maui, the puppy who stayed with Nina’s family, has reached the size of his father.
Thor, the puppies’ father, weighs 7.5 kg, the standard for an adult shi tzu. Meanwhile, Maui reached the 7kg mark on Wednesday (20th), at 61 days old. A golden retriever weighs, on average, 45 kg as an adult.
The crossing between Nina and Thor occurred in a pet hotel where they were staying. The tutor, Márcia Tasca, emphasizes that the event was not intentional.

The reunion of both occurred at the end of October, shortly after the paternity was announced on the guardians’ social networks. “Hello everyone, I’m Thor (super appropriate name). I’m here to say that I didn’t know he was a father. I just fell in love with a beautiful blonde, without understanding the consequences. My mother-in-law had decided not to tell my family and that’s why I just showed up,” the post says.

Despite following his father’s colors, black with white details, Maui has the size and physiognomy of a golden retriever. All of the pups were born with black fur, unlike their mother, who is golden. All the other puppies, including “Zé Milagres”, who was born weighing only 100 grams, are healthy and have already been adopted.
