Sao Paulo – The Civil Police arrested five people suspected of being involved with the “high level” of a criminal organization responsible for drug trafficking in Baixada Santista, on the coast of São Paulo.
Agents from the Anti-Narcotics Investigation Police Station number 6 (Dise), with support from other police stations of the State Department of Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc), served four temporary arrest warrants in the municipalities of Guarujá, Mongaguá and Bertioga.
The fifth detainee was found while serving court orders. He was arrested on the spot with 30 kg of cocaine distributed in bags of tapioca and bricks.
The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) stated that, during the police action, three vehicles used by drug traffickers and several cell phones were also seized.
The ministry also reported that this Thursday’s action was part of the third phase of Operation Santo Amaro, which began with the seizure of 450 kg of cocaine in the city of São Paulo. The work is part of an effort to dismantle the criminal organizations that drive drug trafficking in Baixada Santista.
