After officially leaving Flamengo, Gabigol moves the transfer market

Champion of the Brazilian Cup last Sunday (10), Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol, confirmed that he will not remain at Flamengo. He made the statement in an interview shortly after winning the red and black title. The forward has seen his name linked to Santos in recent days, despite some news confirming his move to Cruzeiro.

After the title, the forward will not remain in Flamengo, according to sports news portals. He would already have an agreement with Cruzeiro, including salary bases and gloves to sign the contract, but nothing was left on paper. Santos, who have a chance of returning to the first division of football, would be interested in the forward joining the team in 2025.

Possible hat

Even though everything was going well with Cruzeiro, nothing was signed and this opened the door for Santos to enter into negotiations. For Marcelo Teixeira, the affection that the athlete has for the club and the fact of having trained at Peixe would be a difference for the transfer to go well. According to journalist Lucas Meretti, Gabigol would receive R$ 2.5 million per month and a contract period of 3 to 4 years.

Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, said in an interview with SportTV selection, gave more details on the topic. “Look at Gabriel: we talk, we talk to the family. We are very close to the family. We wanted to know what his future case would be like. We understand the case, we are looking for alternative partners. We made the proposal to him and his father.“added the club representative.

I pass through Santos

Despite his idolatry in Flamengo, being the top scorer of the century and winning 13 titles, Gabigol has an identification with the Baixada Santista team. The player was revealed by the club in 2013, and it did not take long for him to attract the attention of European clubs. He was negotiated with Inter Milan in 2016, but he went through a bad period there. He was also on loan at Benfica, where he did not play his best football.

He returned to Santos on loan in 2018, finishing that year as Brasileirão’s top scorer, but the club could not afford the loan extension. In total, the forward played more than 200 games and scored 83 goals in both stages.
