Manchester will become the epicenter of world music this Sunday night when it hosts the 20th edition of the iconic MTV EMAs. Hosted by Rita Ora for the third time, the ceremony will feature performances by Shawn Mendes, The Warning, Raye and Peso Pluma, plus tributes to Liam Payne and a special tribute to rapper Busta Rhymes. Taylor Swift, the most nominated of the night, and Anitta, who competes in three categories, will be the most notable.

The highly anticipated 20th edition of the MTV EMAs features shows from Weight Feather, Raye, Shawn Mendes and The Warning. Rita Ora, who already directed the 2017 and 2022 editions, returns to the stage with her unmistakable charisma.

Taylor Swift, called “owner of the industry”, leads the nominations, competing in the main categories alongside Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter. In hip hop, Kendrick Lamar stands out with five nominations, including for the video of the diss song “Not Like Us.” Irish group Fontaines DC, who recently released the album *Romance*, a critique of consumer culture, are also in the running for Best Alternative Artist.
Representing Brazil, Anitta competes in three categories: Best Collaboration (with featherweight), Best Latin Artist and Best Fans, an unprecedented achievement. She competes directly with Taylor Swift and is also accompanied by other Brazilian pop talents, such as Luísa Sonza, Jão, Pabllo Vittar, Matuê and Pedro Sampaio.
Tributes and live broadcast
After three years, the ceremony returns with the Global Icon category, in honor of rapper Busta Rhymes, who becomes the second rapper to receive this recognition, after Eminem in 2013. The night will also feature a moving tribute to Liam Payne, who died in a tragic way, impacting the world of entertainment.
The red carpet will be broadcast live on YouTube and Hugo Gloss, while the awards ceremony will be broadcast directly on MTV Brazil and the Pluto TV platform, starting at 5 p.m.
