UNICEF: The largest number of Gaza children were killed in one day
“The Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip left the largest number of deaths among children in one day in a year,” said Catherine Russell. She explained in a statement carried by “Anatolia” that the information and scenes received from Gaza show the extent of the terrible situation. She added: “Reports indicate that hundreds of people have been killed, including more than 130 children, and this is the largest number of child deaths in one day during the past year.”
She pointed out that the recent Israeli strikes targeted temporary shelters as children and families slept, adding, “This is another killer reminder that there is no safe place in Gaza.” She pointed out that the attacks and the prevention of the entry of humanitarian aid led to an increase in risks to children, and that 16 days have passed since the entry of a truck loaded with humanitarian aid to Gaza.
She added: “Today, a million children were paid in Gaza, who suffered the pain of war that lasted for more than 15 months, to a world of fear and death.” “The attacks and violence must stop immediately,” she said, calling for the resumption of a ceasefire. It also called on all parties to “respect international humanitarian law, provide humanitarian aid immediately, protect civilians, and release all hostages.”
