Today, Monday (Monday), Lebanese President Joseph Aoun directed the army to respond to fire sources from the eastern and northeastern borders, amid renewed clashes on the Lebanese -Syrian border for the second consecutive day.
The Lebanese presidency stated, in a post on her account in «X», that Aoun contacted the Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, who is in Brussels, and asked him to communicate with the Syrian delegation participating in (the ninth conference to support the future of Syria), to work to address the existing problem as soon as possible, in a way that guarantees the sovereignty of the two countries and prevents the deterioration of the situation.
The Lebanese President said: “What is happening on the eastern and northeastern borders cannot continue, and we will not accept its continuation,” adding: “I gave my directives to the Lebanese army to respond to the sources of fire.”
The Lebanese Defense Minister Michel Mansi said, during the cabinet session, that he gave the necessary instructions to strictly control the borders, announcing the formation of a ministerial committee headed by the Prime Minister and the membership of the Ministers of Interior, Defense, Finance, Works and Justice in order to propose the necessary measures to control and monitor the borders, combat smuggling and raise proposals to the Council of Ministers.
The Syrian army expelled Hezbollah militias from the town of Hosh al -Sayyid Ali and announced that they were free of the party members that have controlled it since 2013.
“We have to respond to the sources of shooting from Syria until they silence it,” said Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morcos.
On the other hand, the Syrian Ministry of Defense accused earlier today a group of Lebanese Hezbollah of kidnapping and liquidating 3 members of the Syrian army, but Hezbollah denied this.
The Syrian forces exchanged fire with Lebanese soldiers and other groups in northeastern Lebanon last night and in the early hours of this morning, especially in the north of the city of Hermel, after the town of Hosh al -Sayyid was bombed from the Syrian side.
The Syrian army deployed its reinforcements on the Syrian -Lebanese border to prevent any violations in the coming days, and according to the media, the Syrian army will not advance more than the town of Hosh al -Sayyid Ali and that it will remain inside Syria and will not penetrate in Lebanon.
