
The Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel -Ati mortgaged the success of the Gaza Strip’s reconstruction plan by establishing an independent committee that manages the transitional period, and revealed a proposal taught by the Security Council to establish an international presence in Gaza and the West Bank.
Abdel -Ati said during a meeting with representatives of foreign ambassadors and representatives of international bodies and organizations, today (Monday), that international forces in Gaza and the West Bank can be deployed, according to a program that establishes a Palestinian state.
During a meeting on the rehabilitation of the health sector in the Gaza Strip, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, a visual presentation on the Gaza Strip’s reconstruction plan.
In the presence of more than 100 ambassadors and representatives of an international organization, Minister Abdel -Ati reviewed the integrated plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip that Egypt has developed in coordination with the Palestinian government.
He pointed out that there are basic requirements for the success of the plan, namely: stabilizing the ceasefire in Gaza, managing the early recovery phase, reconstruction in a way that guarantees the Palestinian ownership, dealing with the situation in the sector as an inherent part of the Palestinian territories, and enabling the authority to return to the Gaza Strip to assume its responsibilities by establishing an independent and non -factions committee to manage the affairs of the sector for a transitional period under the umbrella of the Palestinian government. He talked about the start of Egypt and Jordan in training the Palestinian police to deploy them in the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stated that the Gaza reconstruction plan obtained wide regional and international support, and that Egypt is currently working on the arrangement of hosting a conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in Cairo to secure the necessary funding for the implementation of the plan.
Abdel -Ati disclosed the existence of a proposal that the Security Council would study the establishment of an international existence in the Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank, by adopting a decision of the Council to deploy international peace or protection forces with clear mandate and specializations, and within the framework and time program that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and the Minister of Health and Population made an integrated visual presentation regarding the rehabilitation of the health sector in the Gaza Strip, through which he reviewed the most prominent features of Egypt’s emergency health response and health services that it provided to more than 107,000 Palestinian citizens who crossed to Egypt since the beginning of the war, exceeding $ 570 million.
He pointed to the features of the current deteriorating health situation in the Gaza Strip, in light of the lack of medical supplies and the exit of more than 70% of health facilities in the sector from service. He touched on the details of the Egyptian proposal to rebuild and promote the health sector in the sector, to raise its efficiency and respond to the basic health needs in the sector, reviewing the expected costs of the proposed projects in this regard.
