
US President Donald Trump announced that he will speak with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin tomorrow (Tuesday) to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, and said: “We may announce something about Russia and Ukraine tomorrow.”
Trump spoke to reporters on the presidential plane during his flight from Florida to Washington about the division of some assets between Russia and Ukraine, revealing that lands and power stations are the focus of agreement between Russia and Ukraine. He stressed that “a lot of work has been completed during the weekend … We want to see an end to this war.”
The US President described the path of negotiations with Russia as positive, after Saudi Arabia hosted high talks this month between Moscow and Washington.
He added, “We want to see if we can end this war. Perhaps we can, and perhaps not, but I think we have a very good chance. ”
When asked about the concessions being studied in the ceasefire negotiations, Trump said: “We will talk about the ground. We will talk about power stations. ”He added,“ I think that many of these matters have already been discussed between the two sides, Ukraine and Russia. We are already talking about the division of some assets. ” He stated that great efforts were made in this regard during the weekend in Florida.
US officials have talked about the intention of the American president and his Russian counterpart this week, while Washington and Kiev’s allies are pressuring Moscow to accept a ceasefire in the war that has been going on three years ago. Ukraine this week agreed to an American proposal for a 30 -day truce in the war, provided that Russia’s commitment to it.
Putin expressed his support for the ceasefire, but stressed the existence of pending issues about the proposal that needed to consult with the Americans.
“The two presidents will run a good and positive discussion this week.”.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper “Izvietia”, it did not refer to the ceasefire proposal, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that any long -term peace treaty on Ukraine should meet Moscow’s demands. “We will demand strict security guarantees part of this agreement,” the newspaper quoted Grushko as saying. He revealed that among these guarantees is the neutral situation of Ukraine, and NATO countries refused to accept it in the bloc. Moscow confirmed its conclusive opposition to the deployment of monitors from NATO in Ukraine.
Grushko said that the European allies so that they should understand that the exclusion of Ukraine’s membership from NATO and the exclusion of the possibility of deploying foreign military forces on its soil is only what will be in the interest of the region. He added, “Then the security of Ukraine and the entire region will be guaranteed in the broader sense, as one of the radical reasons for the conflict will be eliminated.”
