Declare The head of the Syndicate of Travel and Tourism offices in Lebanon, Jean Abboud, said that “the demand for travel to Lebanon is constantly high and the crime of trips will rise whenever we approach the holiday season”, but he revealed that this movement does not meet our aspirations as it will remain very close to what is registered in Eid Al -Fitr last year.
Abboud pointed out that “those coming to Lebanon in the holiday season are expatriate Lebanese or working abroad, and there will also be some Arab tourists, including Iraqis, Jordanians and Egyptians.”.
He said, “Unfortunately, we were hoping that a significant rise in travel will happen, especially on Eid Al -Fitr, in connection with the great positive developments that took place in Lebanon, but this did not happen because this requires many important measures that have not been taken yet, and if it was taken, it would be capable of causing a positive shock that helps in restoring Arab tourists,” considering that “the indicators are very positive so far in the restoration of the Arab market but will not change during the holiday season this”.
Abboud explained that “in the year 2023, the percentage of European tourists was excellent and reached 32 percent of the total tourists, where they were at the forefront of travelers to Lebanon, but this matter we missed clearly this year, because they plan their travel and reserve tickets several months or a year ago, and therefore no indications about their travel appear, meaning that this segment is no longer to Lebanon until now.”.
Abboud stressed that “what is required to restore the tourist momentum, especially in the field of travel, is to make radical reforms and take non -basic ministerial measures and decisions to create a positive shock that restores confidence in Lebanon.”
Abboud also hoped that the information that is being circulated about a new visit to the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, would be valid at the head of an official delegation that includes a number of ministers to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Eid Al -Fitr to sign a set of agreements between the two countries and to announce the lifting of the ban on the coming of Gulf tourists to Lebanon, so that the tourism sector will be able to benefit from the summer season.
