
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing launched the “Basta Khair” initiative in partnership with the secretariats of the regions, to support and empower street vendors within the plan of support, empowerment and development of street vendors in various regions of the Kingdom.
The general supervisor of the file of the street vendors in the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Princess Nujoud Bint Hathloul bin Abdulaziz, explained that the initiative continues until the end of the month, and aims to support more than 600 al -Qael selles in various regions of the Kingdom.
She added, that the initiative aims to support and empower the street vendors sector, and to enhance the role of the trusts in supporting the owed groups, by organizing dedicated and licensed sites and promotional activities for stones according to modern criteria for the practice of activity, and the initiative also contributes to raising the quality of the offered products, and supporting families and groups that need more inner beneficiaries and others by providing sustainable economic opportunities, and supporting small and micro projects.
The “Blat Khair” initiative comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in partnership with the secretariats of the regions to enable street vendors, provide an organized work environment and develop the appropriate sales mechanisms and infrastructure, and the rehabilitation of sellers with training programs in addition to developing the administrative and operational side.
It is noteworthy that the initiative aims to redefine the concept of the seller, and to raise the level of societal awareness about the importance of supporting street vendors from citizens and residents, who practice the sale of various products and provide services in specific places authorized by the secretariats and municipalities affiliated with them such as fixed barks, mobile vehicles, kiosks, and all licensed sales outlets.
