
The Secretary -General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, Jassem Al -Badawi, affirmed that the GCC countries are taking great and valuable steps to combat Islamophobia, based on the fact that Islam is a religion of love, tolerance and understanding, calling for peace and coexistence between peoples, and urges respect for cultural and religious diversity.
On the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Al -Badawi noted that all the joint Gulf data, at all levels, renew the call for the importance of consolidating the values of dialogue and respect between peoples and cultures, and rejecting everything that would spread hatred and extremism, as it calls for the concerted international efforts to enhance these principles in all societies, spread the culture of religious tolerance, dialogue and coexistence, and condemn all statements that abuse Islam and Muslims Islamic civilization, and emphasizes the importance of confronting all manifestations of hatred, intolerance and negative stereotypes, and distorting the image of religions.
He referred to the efforts made by the GCC countries in this field, including the proposal to establish a Gulf scientific observatory to combat extremism, through the Committee of Ministers responsible for Islamic affairs and endowments in the countries of the Cooperation Council, and this proposal is an important and required step, as it will contribute to promoting the real image of Islam and confronting hatred campaigns.
The Secretary -General affirmed the stable positions and decisions of the GCC states towards terrorism and extremism, regardless of their source, and their rejection of all their forms and images, and rejecting any motives or justifications for them, and working to dry up their sources of financing, and support international efforts to fight terrorism, stressing that terrorism is not related to any religion, culture, nationality or ethnic group, and that tolerance and coexistence between nations and peoples are among the most important principles and values that are among the most important principles and values The societies of the GCC states were founded, which are reflected in their dealings with other peoples. Al -Badawi condemned all terrorist acts, stressing the sanctity of bloodshed, and refusing to prejudice civilians and civil establishments, such as: schools, places of worship, and hospitals, calling on the international and regional community to constantly coordinate to confront terrorist groups and sectarian militias that threaten security and destabilize.
