
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing launched the “Basta Khair” initiative in partnership with the secretariats of the regions, to support and empower street vendors, as part of a plan to support, empower and develop street vendors in various regions of the Kingdom. Yesterday, 13 Secretariats announced the inauguration of the initiative that will continue until the end of Ramadan, which are the secretariats of the Holy Capital, the field, Khawiya, Jeddah, Al -Qassim, the Northern Haddi, Najran, Al -Baha and Al -Jawf, and the secretariats of Jizan, Hail, Asir and Tabuk were announced.
The general supervisor of the file of the street vendors in the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Princess Nujoud Bint Hathloul, explained that the initiative that continues until the end of the Holy Month aims to support more than 600 milestones in various regions of the Kingdom.
She indicated that the initiative will contribute to supporting and empowering the street vendors sector and enhancing the role of the secretariats in supporting the entitled groups, by organizing dedicated and licensed sites and promotional activities for the rugs according to modern criteria for the practice of activity, and the initiative will contribute to raising the quality of the offered products, supporting families and groups of warning beneficiaries and others by providing sustainable economic opportunities, and supporting small and micro projects.
The “Basta Khair” initiative comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in partnership with the secretariats of the regions to enable street vendors, provide an organized work environment and develop the appropriate sales mechanisms and infrastructure, and the rehabilitation of sellers with training programs, in addition to developing the administrative and operational side.
