A report issued by the “Automobile Manufacturers Association”, known as “ACEA”, confirmed that the production of cars in the Middle East and North Africa region increased by 0.4 percent during the past year, driven by a decrease in production in Iran against the continued increase in production in Morocco by 12 percent, to about half a million cars in the year 2024.
The same source stated that the European Union’s production of cars decreased during the past year by more than 6 percent, especially in Italy, whose production fell by more than 43 percent, then Belgium exceeded 31 percent, in addition to both France and Romania, compared to a slight increase in Spanish production.
Germany took the throne of car producers in the European Union with nearly four million cars in the year 2024, followed by Spain, which came again, then the Czech Republic, which produced more than one million and 446 thousand cars, out of a total of more than 11 million and 408 thousand cars produced by the collecting countries combined.
The report’s data revealed that in 2024 global car production reached about 75.5 million units; While global sales in the same year amounted to more than 74 million units, an increase of more than 2 percent compared to the previous year, noting that China acquired 31 percent of the global market sales, compared to the decline in Japanese and Korean sales.
At the level of the bus industry market in Europe, the same association pointed out that the European Union trade witnessed a slight development in the bus trade, as the value of imports increased against the decline in exports by more than 19 percent.
The report recorded that the European Union imports from the new buses came primarily from Turkey, with a value of more than one billion and 800 million euros, followed by China by about 600 million euros, in addition to Morocco with a value of 67 million euros, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco occupies a market share in bus imports estimated at 2.5 percent.
The same document drew attention to a decrease in truck production at the global level by 8.3 percent at the end of last year; While the global bus production in the same year reached more than 362 thousand units, an increase of more than 10 percent compared to 2023.
