
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Washington to stop the strikes it carried out on the Houthi group in Yemen. The ministry said, in a statement, today (Sunday), that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed in a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Marco Rubio, the need for an immediate end to the use of force against the Houthis.
Lavrov stressed the need for an immediate stopping to use force, and the importance of all parties to participate in a political dialogue in order to reach a solution that prevents more bloodshed.
The US State Department had said that Rubio briefed Lavrov during the conversation on the US military operation against the Houthis.
For his part, Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander Hussein Salami threatened that Tehran would respond strongly and firmly if threatened, pointing out that the Houthis are making their operational decisions independently.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the United States “has no right to dictate Iran’s foreign policy”, after a message from the US President asking Tehran to stop the Houthi support “immediately.”
