A person in an Israeli raid targeting a car in southern Lebanon was martyred in a new breach of the ceasefire agreement in force since November 27, 2024. The National Media Agency said that an Israeli path targeted at dawn today a car on the road to the town of Youth, Bint Jbeil district, which led to the death of its driver and the injury of his facilities.
The Israeli occupation forces are launching raids on several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement, claiming that they target sites and facilities for Hezbollah. On October 8, 2023, Israel began an aggression against Lebanon, turning into a wide war on September 23, 2024, leaving 4 thousand and 115 martyrs, 16 thousand and 909 wounded, including a large number of children and women, in addition to the displacement of about one million and 400 thousand people.
Since the ceasefire agreement on November 27, 2024, Israel has committed more than a thousand violations of it, which has caused 87 martyrs and at least 285 wounded, according to the Anatolia Agency. Israel dismissed the completion of its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by February 18, unlike the agreement, as it implemented a partial withdrawal and continues to occupy 5 major Lebanese points, as part of the areas it occupied in the recent war.
On Saturday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that his country cannot settle and flourish in light of the continued tension on its southern borders. He added, according to what the National Media Agency reported: “In the midst of the challenges we face our country, the issue of implementation of Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement (with Israel) highlights a central issue that calls for our interest and care.”
Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006 calls for a full endowment of combat operations between Lebanon and Israel, and the establishment of an area free of weapons and militants between the blue line and the Litani River in southern Lebanon, with the exception of the Lebanese army and the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL). Aoun added: “Lebanon cannot stabilize and flourish in light of the continued tension on its southern borders.”
And last Sunday, the Secretary -General of Hezbollah, Naim Qasim, said in an interview with the party’s “Al -Manar” channel, that if the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon continues, “it must be confronted by the army, the people and the resistance.”
