The former Egyptian Grand Mufti, Dr. Shawky Allam, emphasized that the use of miswak to clean the mouth and teeth is not embarrassed by law, which is desirable, especially in the morning after waking up from sleep or when the smell of the mouth changes, as it is a great way to maintain the cleanliness of the mouth and public health. He emphasized that if the fasting person is dealing with people and feels that there is an unpleasant smell in his mouth, then it is preferable to use the miswak, even after the disappearance, to avoid harming others with this smell, indicating that “the warden of spoilers is based on bringing interests.” He pointed out that it is a confirmed Sunnah for the fasting person to be well disturbed by his teeth, and that he prefers to use miswak or pickling when needed, and it is desirable not to use it in public places or during prayer, in order to avoid embarrassment or disturbing the mind during worship.
