The Vatican said today, Saturday, that Pope Francis is slowly improving in the hospital from his dual pneumonia and reduces the use of artificial respirators during the night.
“The Pope’s condition is still stable, confirming the progress that was observed last week.”
Pope Francis has not appeared publicly since he was hospitalized, and this is the longest absence of its kind since he took over the papal chair 12 years ago.
The Pope will be absent from his weekly sermon tomorrow, Sunday, for the fifth consecutive week.
The Vatican said that Pope Francis continues to receive respiratory treatment, as well as physical therapy to improve his movement. The statement said that “the two types of treatment are currently evident gradually,” the statement said.
The Vatican did not specify a timetable for the Pope’s discharge from the hospital, saying that his recovery was slow.
The Vatican is now publishing statements about the health of the Pope every few days after it was previously issued twice daily.
On a separate level, the Vatican announced today that Pope Francis agreed to a new three -year process to consider the Catholic Church’s reforms around the world, indicating that he intends to continue his position despite the health difficulties he faces.
