Ambassadors visited Tripoli in northern Lebanon … Ramadan breakfast and a tour of its old markets

The Cultural Committee in the Municipality of Tripoli, in northern Lebanon, organized, in cooperation with the Francophone University Agency (Auf), a tourist tour in the old city markets to discover the city’s treasures and history, on the occasion of the Francophone month.
The activity began in the Rashid Karami Cultural Cultural Center, formerly Nofal Palace, in the presence of 6 ambassadors of countries: France, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Tunisia and Armenia, in addition to the regional director of the Francophone University Agency, Jean -Nawil Balo, and the representative of the World Association of Francophone “OIF” Lievan Amirghanian.
The deans and managers of most universities operating in the north (Lebanese, Al -Balmand, Al -Jasua, Al -Arabiya, the Lebanese French) and a number of students and activists in civil society attended.
After the Lebanese national anthem, the director of the Francophone Digital Center, Dr. Ziyad Naja, welcomed the attendees, speaking about “the Francophone activities that are organized in Tripoli and Lebanon”, then he talked about the “Auf” and Amershanian about the “OIF” followed by the speech of the French Ambassador Irfi Magro in the name of the ambassadors of the Francophone countries present, in which he talked about “Tripoli’s historical relations in France And its support and positive change in Lebanon and the region, “and stressed” standing next to the city and supporting it at this stage. “
Then the mayor of Tripoli, Riyad, welcomed the attendance, and talked about “the values of Ramadan and the transformation of the city in this holy month and the history of Tripoli and its pioneering and civilizational role and its capabilities and facilities capable of improving the Lebanese economy as a whole”, and spoke about “the decline in its role after independence and injustice in the city by the Lebanese state and its powers.”
The head of the municipal cultural committee in Bassem Bakhsh concluded, showing the historical ties between Tripoli and Francophone, on the values of Ramadan and Francophone, including brothers, equality and love of the other, “and stressed” the role of culture and critical thought in change and the progress of peoples. “
A tour of the old city
After a presentation of the history of Noufal Palace, the tour started walking in the hill square, and from there walking to the Great Mansouri Mosque and then the old markets and Khan al -Sabun, then Khan al -Khayyat, Hammam Ezzeddine and the closing of the castle, and the tour lasted several hours, and most of the ambassadors remained all this time and expressed their happiness in roaming in the alleys of the ancient Tripoli and its historical markets and communication with the people, and they heard the historical explanation of the milestones They expressed their admiration and love for the city.
Then he left the French and Armenian ambassadors, and a Ramadan breakfast was held at Nofal Palace in honor of the attendees.
Ibrahim Rajab played the oud at the end of breakfast to add a quiet oriental musical atmosphere that made the attendees happy.
