The European Commission stated that the European Union imposed fees on imports of aluminum mineral tires and imported from Morocco “Jantes En Aluminium”, in a new procedure that falls within the “anti -dumping”.
The European Commission justified this by “protecting the producers of these mechanisms at the level of the European Union countries, and defending 16 thousand and 600 jobs” from what it called “unfair commercial practices”.
The same source said that “an investigation had been concluded that the Moroccan government supports the industry for the auto sector systematically through notable subsidies with the rules of the World Trade Organization, including grants and loans at preferential prices, as well as tax exemptions and discounts as well.”
The investigation, which was referred to the same source, claimed that “China has made financial contributions to a Moroccan producer in the context of cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, and it has been proven that these imported imports unlikely caused harm to the European industry from the same product.”
According to the European Commission, “imposing fees on these tires (road wheels) made of aluminum by Morocco confirms the union’s intention to use commercial defense tools to the maximum to protect its industry and ensure equal opportunities at the global level.”
She also pointed out that “these fees, which were imposed, ranged between 5.6 percent for the exported product and the beneficiary of Moroccan support, and 31.4 percent regarding his counterpart, which benefits from Moroccan -Chinese financial support within the Belt and Road Initiative.”
“The new fees are added to the anti -dumping fees that were previously imposed on the same product from Morocco on January 12, 2023, which ranges between 9 and 17.5 percent, as well as other fees, which aim to fight dumping imposed on aluminum wheel imports from China,” said a statement of the European Commission.
The same source referred to a similar procedure previously carried out by the European Union regarding the fight against dumping caused by countries outside it during the year 2023, including Morocco, which came based on an investigation conducted by the European Commission based on a complaint submitted by the Association of wheel manufacturers in Europe, known as “euwa”, in the year 2021, before it was published during the year 2022 a temporary list of imposing fees on the tires made of aluminum frames Morocco.
The same source stated that when the decision was taken to apply fees to the same product at the time, the Association of wheel manufacturers in Europe and a Moroccan company (Deca) was informed, along with the Moroccan government.
