
The American authorities have arrested a Palestinian student and canceled an Indian student’s visa as part of a campaign launched by the administration of President Donald Trump on those who describe them as “terrorist supporters” in the universities of the United States.
The US Department of Internal Security – Friday – announced that a Kurdish meeting, a Palestinian student from the West Bank, was arrested for violating the conditions for her academic visa.
The ministry said – in a statement – that its visa was expired since January 26, 2022 after it was interrupted.
The arrest of a Kurdish meeting comes days after the arrest of the Palestinian student and activist Mahmoud Khalil, for his participation in the protests witnessed by the University of Colombia last year in rejection of the war on Gaza.
The US Department of Internal Security also announced the cancellation of the Ranjani Serenivasan visa, an Indian student who studies a doctorate in urban planning at Columbia University, under the pretext of “supporting violence and terrorism.”
The ministry said that Rangani was involved in activities that support Hamas, and accordingly its visa was canceled on March 5.
According to the statement, the Indian student “self -deportment” on March 11.
Once upon a privilege and not an acquired right, stressing that there is no place for those who support terrorism in the United States, as she put it.
These developments come as the campaign launched by the American authorities escalates over universities that witnessed protests in support of the Palestinians, and the authorities justified the campaign against universities and students with what they called “support for terrorism and anti -Semitism”.
A message to the University of Colombia
Meanwhile, the Freedom Press, the Press Mark, revealed a message sent by the administration of President Donald Trump to the President of Columbia University on punitive measures against the backdrop of protests condemning the Israeli war on Gaza.
The organization said that the message accuses the university of the catastrophic failure to protect students and American faculty members from violence and anti -Semitic harassment.
The Trump administration called on Columbia University of disciplinary measures if it wanted to restore its federal financing, and these measures include expelling students or stopping studying for several years.
The US administration also requested the status of the Department of Middle East Studies, South Asia and Africa at the university under academic guardianship for at least 5 years.
Democrats and American organizations denounced the arrest of students and the threat of their deportation, noting that this is a violation of the freedom of expression guaranteed by the American constitution.
