Two political analysts saw that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) threw a “ball of fire” against Israel and worsened from its internal dilemma, by responding to the proposal it received from the brokers, and ensured the approval of the release of the Israeli soldier, Alexander Alexander, who holds American citizenship and the bodies of 4 dual nationalities.
Hamas announced that it had handed over its response at dawn today to the proposal it received from the mediators, and confirmed its complete readiness to start negotiations and reach a comprehensive agreement on the issues of the second stage, and called for obliging the occupation to implement its full obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
Commenting on this development, the researcher and political analyst Saeed Ziyad said that Hamas tried to dismantle the dilemma facing negotiations and overcoming the Israeli narrative, by approving the basic presentation of Adam Bouleer, the envoy of US President Donald Trump’s special affairs of prisoners, which the brokers presented last night.
He explained that “the approval of Hamas is approval of intentions and not procedural approval, that is, it agrees if the issue is linked to the negotiations of the second stage of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas’s response to the brokers will be the Americans – Ziad continues – and proves to everyone that Hamas is concerned with negotiation and intransigence and wants to negotiate the second stage without providing anything, in addition to the success of Hamas to release a prisoner of American citizenship will push the families of the Israeli and Israeli society to say that those who possess a double nationality who has a negotiating concession and has a negotiating country.
While he expressed his belief that “Hamas’s position will put Israel in a confrontation with the Americans”, Ziad did not rule out that this position would give a boost to the second stage negotiations and to re -enter aid to Gaza, and to the level of direct negotiations between the movement and the American administration.
Netanyahu maneuver
In his expectation of the nature of the Israeli response to Hamas’s response to the proposal of the brokers, the academic and expert in Israeli affairs, Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, said that Israel will deal with the situation with great caution, explaining that it went to negotiations as it puts the proposal of the American envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkev, and talks about a limited truce with the release of a group of Israeli prisoners, in exchange for the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza.
He believed that the acceptance of Hamas to the proposal of the brokers puts Israel in trouble, the first relates to the other, and did the intermediaries promise Hamas to move to the second stage? This is a dilemma for Israel, because it refuses to enter into the discussions of this stage and seeks to extend the first stage or find a new framework in which the ceasefire is extended in exchange for the restoration of more prisoners.
On the internal Israeli level, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under pressure in order to agree to a comprehensive deal and not a limited deal, in addition to pressure he will face if the prisoners with dual citizenship release, but Netanyahu will take advantage of this issue to maneuver, and he will try to gain time, as Dr. Mustafa said.
In the context of the Israeli position, the Jerusalem Post quoted an Israeli official as saying: “The Hamas proposal to release hostages with American citizenship aims to sabotage negotiations.”
In the opinion of the researcher and political analyst Ziad, “Hamas threw a ball from fire to the Israeli side,” noting that the internal dilemma of the Israeli occupation will worsen, especially since “American rapprochement with Hamas may dismantle any American support for Israel and remove the specter of the return of the war to Gaza”, and because “the key to the development of negotiations is in the hands of the Americans.”
Adam Bouler, the US President’s envoy for Prisoners’ Affairs, had previously met senior Hamas officials in the Qatari capital, Doha, without Israel, to hold talks on the release of Israeli prisoners detained in Gaza, including 5 Americans.
It is noteworthy that in early March, the first phase of a ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel ended, began on January 19, by Qatar and Egypt and supporting the United States.
