The Spanish Civil Guard announced the arrest of a Moroccan woman at Barcelona airport after it was found that she was carrying 187 capsules inside her stomach, with a total weight of 2 kilograms, which was a great danger to her life. It was transferred to the hospital, where it took three days to take out the capsules.
According to Spanish sources, the Spanish Civil Guard, in cooperation with the Spanish Tax Agency, arrested a 44 -year -old Moroccan passenger on March 4 at Barcelona airport, after discovering her attempt to smuggle cannabis inside her body.
The elements of the Customs Analysis and Border Guard Unit, along with the tax agency employees, arrested the passenger coming from Fez during a routine inspection, as the officers noted that they were tense and gave contradictory answers to their questions, which raised doubts about the possibility of trying to smuggle illegal materials to Spain.
Based on these doubts, the passenger was transferred to a radiology examination under the supervision of a specialist for a detection if they carry strange bodies inside her body. The woman voluntarily agreed to the examination, which confirmed the presence of a large number of capsules inside her digestive system, which necessitated their immediate arrest.
The woman was urgently transferred to the University of Belfich University in Barcelona, where a special medical protocol was activated to extract capsules from her body. Due to the large number of capsules it swallowed, the process took nearly three days, under careful medical supervision, to ensure that it is safe and prevent any health complications that may threaten its life.
People who use this method of smuggling are called “Polarus” or “human mules”, who are individuals who swallow small capsules covered with resistance materials to prevent their melting in the stomach, with the aim of smuggling drugs through customs checkpoints without discovering them.
