Inflation or the general record for consumer prices in Jordan for the month of February increased by 2.12% compared to the opposite month of 2024, according to the monthly report issued by the Government Statistics Department today. The report indicated a slight increase of 0.11% compared to the previous January. At the cumulative level, the record number for the first two months of this year increased by 2.21% compared to the same period from 2024.
Accordingly, the general record for consumer prices for the month of February 2025 amounted to 112.36 compared to 110.02 for the same month of 2024, and the record for last February reached 112.36 compared to 112.23 for the previous year of the same year. Clusterly, the General Statistics Department said in its statement today, that the record for the first two months of 2025 amounted to 112.3 compared to 109.87 for the same period from 2024.
A member of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Alaa Dirani, told Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed that heights have occurred to a number of commodities and ranged between personal, home or food equipment, while some of the reasons for this are due to the increase in their prices globally or the costs of production. He added that the prices of some commodities, including foodstuffs, have returned a few days ago after witnessing clear altitudes, such as chicken and varieties of vegetables and red meat, while government measures contributed to limiting the repercussions of prices globally on the local market.
On the level of commodity groups, it contributed to the rise in inflation or the general record for consumer prices last month compared to the same month from 2024, mainly, the “Personal Loss” group by 18.39%, “tobacco and cigarettes” 12.73%, “meat and poultry” 8.69%, “spices, food enhancements and other food” 5.34%, “Culture and Entertainment” 5.18%. The “Furniture, Carpets, and Butterflies” group also increased 3.46%, “clothes” 2.5% and “home tools” 2.31%, “vegetables and dry and canned legumes” 2.13%.
Among the most prominent commodity groups that contributed to the increase in the general record for consumer prices last month compared to last January, which preceded the same year the group “Personal Luggage” 2.87%, “Fish and Sea Products” 1.02%, “Meat and Poultry” 0.97%, and “Communications” 0.75%, “Beverages and Mints” 0.55%.
