The anniversary of March 14, 2005 this year dates back amid enormous local and regional changes, similar to the one that distinguished in 2005 and led to the Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon. The date of March 14, 2005 represented a detailed moment in the contemporary history of Lebanon, where the Lebanese went out in mass demonstrations after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, demanding the withdrawal of the Syrian forces from Lebanon and the establishment of a free and independent state. The coalition, which was formed after these events, known as the “March 14 Alliance”, included a group of political forces that united about the principles of sovereignty and independence, in the forefront of which are the “Future Movement” led by Saad Hariri, the Progressive Socialist Party led by Walid Jumblatt, and the “Lebanese Forces” led by Samir Geagea, and the Lebanese Brigades headed by Amin Gemayel, in addition to a group of independent figures and some Christian currents.
