In the occupied Golan, March 2, 2025 (Galaa Merhi/France Press)
The Israeli occupation state continues to play on the tendency of religious and ethnic minorities in Syria in an attempt to exploit it to serve its interests, and to keep the country that tries to rise, fragile, weak, separate, pursuant to the principle of the teams of Tzad, which it pursued and is still in the entire region, in various ways, but it acquires a special momentum in the Syrian case since the fall of Bashar al -Assad’s regime on December 8 last. Israel continues to send signals to the Druze of Syria that it will protect them, and in other words, they want them alongside it, despite the assertion of the Syrian Druze sheikhs who refused any Israeli interference. Israel is also trying to spread fear in the hearts of the Druze and other Syrian minorities, such as the Alawites and the Kurds, working on the construction of the mistakes of the new regime or its pro -groups.
The occupation state is making this effort to win over Syrian Druze, along with its military steps in the Syrian territories, all on the pretext of protecting its security and not allowing “jihadist” parties to be on its “borders”, which are already occupied Syrian lands in part. Among its prominent tools is the exploitation of the social and economic conditions of the Syrians and the political debate about the country’s destination and its future rule. In the case of Syrian Druze in particular, they are trying to seize them, sometimes by announcing permits to enter Syrians to work in the occupied Golan Heights, and sometimes by announcing the introduction of food aid parcels to them, except for the unannounced steps. And contributes to the push in this direction, the spiritual leader of the Druze in occupied Palestine, Sheikh Mowaffaq Tarif, who is close to the Israeli authorities, who continues to wave with the paper that Druze Syria is in danger.
Establishing the presence in Quneitra and winning the Druze of Syria
In this context, Israel’s attempt to consolidate its presence in the Syrian governorate of Quneitra is highlighted by winning the people of the region, especially the Syrian Druze through a package of economic and service temptations, taking advantage of the difficult humanitarian conditions in the absence of the new Syrian state institutions. The occupation offers offers to the local population ranging from job opportunities within the occupied territories with high salaries, providing food and medical assistance, building schools and hospitals, and extending electricity and water networks. These attempts collide with a widespread popular rejection wall, from the people of Quneitra in general and from the Druze villages in particular. While Israel is trying to employ sectarian affiliation by inviting Druze notables to visit the occupied Golan and meet Sheikh Mowaffaq Tarif, sheikhs and dignitaries, most of them, reject these calls, considering that they are “exploiting our religious affiliation to polish the image of the occupation.” These steps also come in conjunction with an unprecedented Israeli military expansion, as the occupation forces set up 12 new military sites in the Quneitra governorate, equipped with residential facilities and paved roads, which threatens to turn the area into military settlements with a long -term presence.
France Press: A delegation that includes dozens of Syrian clerics is preparing to go towards Israel today, Friday, on a religious visit
Sources for “Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed” revealed intense Israeli efforts to arrange the visit of 100 Druze figures from the villages of Quneitra and the southwestern countryside of Damascus as a presence and a lame to the occupied Golan, to meet Sheikh Mowaffaq Tarif, in coordination with the occupation army. Agence France -Presse also reported that a delegation of dozens of Syrian clerics is preparing to go towards Israel today, Friday, on a religious visit. Druze clerics intend to cross from the Syrian lands towards Israel through the town of Hadar, which is located in the Quneitra countryside, visit the shrine of the Prophet Shuaib, and the meeting of Sheikh Tarif.
The sources who spoke to Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed said that Israel is trying to seduce the people through promises to “improve the conditions of the sect security and politically,” but the rejection was decisive by most of the sheikhs and elders of the sect in these villages, stressing that “Syrian blood is a honesty that is not sold with material assistance and temptations or with a fabricated sectarian army,” as one of the notables who attended to “Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed.” He added: “Our call to the Golan is an attempt to develop our Syrian identity. We are not a card in the hands of the occupation.
As one of the sheikhs of the town of Hadar, asking not to be named, said to Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed: “We have binds to the Golan and occupied Palestine, bonds of kinship and blood, but this does not mean that none of us abandoned his belonging to his land and country. Our affiliation is in exchange for any temptations, and the visit presented came with an invitation from the Palestinian interior, and we are not obligated to it. The sheikh denied the existence of any pressure on the dignitaries and sheikhs of the sect in Hadar by the other side, adding: “When we want to visit our religious shrines in the Golan and Palestine, this will be after the departure of those who occupied them, we do not compromise on our dignity and our history attests to this.”
He pointed out that “those who want to fulfill the invitation of the visit are free and they are few, and they are not from the notables at all, but we will not allow this to be a stigma on the sect.” He explained that “there are other sons of the villages of Quneitra from the rest of the sects in Syria are excited to go to work in the occupied territories, and I do not blame them despite my definitive personal rejection of that being a clear Israeli exploitation of the needs of the poor people, but I blame the government in Damascus and marginalize the province, and let the people meet their fate and face the occupation individually, as if we are not citizens of this country.” He said that he does not know the numbers of those wishing to meet the invitation of the visit to the Golan, suggesting that it will be few if it happened.
Regarding the Israeli aid and offers for the people of the town and the governorate, the sheikh told Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed that “the largest part of the town and the province rejected any Israeli aid or offers, but there are many families who accepted the aid, whether from those who attended or from other villages inhabited by our Sunni brothers and other sects, and I do not see that these people may deserve to be betrayed, so whoever sees the conditions of people is away from the painful, there are many families in the town It is suffering from extreme poverty, and so far the transitional government has not seriously advanced to inspect the conditions of people, like the previous regime, putting the province in its latest priority.
The people of many villages in Quneitra refused to receive Israeli aid
In the village of Al -Aqla in Quneitra, the residents refused about a month ago to receive an Israeli aid shipment provided by an armored military force, while Mukhtar Al -village entered Al -Aqla with a debate with the occupation patrol, and expelled the soldiers by saying: “Get out of our land. Aid does not wash the shame of the occupation.” The scene was repeated in the villages of Al -Daraya, Al -Swissa, and Arabism, where the people burned this aid, and some of them did not allow the Israeli forces to introduce them to his area at all. Muhammad al -Bakr, one of the sons of Quneitra, told Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed that “a patrol of the occupation forces stood in front of my house and asked me about the living and service reality in the village and offered me to work in the Golan settlements with a salary of 100 dollars per day a few weeks ago, but I refused and told them that my children remain hungry better than to eat than money that is stolen by my brothers in the Golan and Palestine.”
Food aid and security assurances
Within the framework of economic pressure, the occupation army has been performing a population census in the villages of Quneitra, a month and a half ago, during which it provides job opportunities inside Israel, but the people always answer rejection. To restrict the people of the province, the occupation forces resort to attacks that affect the livelihoods of the people, such as shooting sheep flocks, as happened in the village of Al -Rafid several times, which led to the death of 100 heads, or by bulldozing private agricultural lands and cutting trees to open the roads in front of their military vehicles. This is what the people see as a step to block their livelihoods, but they are nevertheless trying to withstand and continue to resist forced breach attempts. “Our children sleep hungry, but we refuse to eat from a hand that burned our homes, the occupation wants us as slaves, and we will not be,” said Maryam from the town of Ufania in the Quneitra countryside.
As part of the actual implementation of the Israeli plans in Syria, the instructions of Foreign Minister Gideon Saar are highlighted to transfer food parcels, humanitarian aid in favor of supporting the Druze in Syria. The Hebrew newspaper Maariv claimed that in the context of an operation carried out in recent weeks, Israel has introduced 10,000 expelles to this day, from the humanitarian aid of the Druze residing in the fighting areas inside Syria, and that this process was carried out in coordination and cooperation with Muwaffaq Tarif, and in cooperation with the Druze Religious Council, the Israeli army, and other destinations in the region. Parces contain basic materials such as oil, salt, flour, sugar, rice and others, most of which are transferred to the Druze Mountain in As -Suwayda, while some were delivered to Druze villages close to the border. Saar claimed earlier that “we have a brave alliance with our Druze brothers. We have the right to help them. In an area where we will always remain a minority, it is necessary and correct to help other minorities.” Saar’s comments come at a time, in which Israel occupies part of their country and establishes a buffer zone with a depth of 80 kilometers inside the Syrian territories and is stationed on the foothills of Jabal Al -Sheikh. He also continues to threaten the new regime and warns of the approaching Syrian forces from the borders it set. Three days ago, the Israeli Air Force implemented 40 raids in southern Syria, during which the occupation army said it targeted radar systems, tanks, various weapons, ammunition stores, and military sites.
Katz: Israel made it clear that its presence in the Syrian Sheikh Mountain is long and not specified in a timetable
Through its references to the Druze, the occupying state is practically tries to promote that it is their support and the back that protects them, and that it intends to preserve the good neighborhood relations with them, all within its plans to exploit them and stimulate sectarian and factional strife among the Syrians, in order to push towards the division of Syria. Accordingly, the Israeli Minister of Security, Yisrael Katz, reaffirmed what was claimed to be Israel’s commitment to work to prevent any attack by the new regime or by “jihadist” parties against Syrian civilians residing east of Jabal Al -Sheikh and in Jabal Al -Druze in Syria. The occupation army is planning to establish long -term on the slopes of the occupied Sheikh Jabal. “Israel has made it clear that its presence in the Syrian Sheikh Mountain (in reference to the newly -term part) is not specified in a timetable.”
And the images of artificial satellites published by the Washington Post late last month revealed that 7 new Israeli military bases in Quneitra extend from Jabal Al -Sheikh to the Yarmouk Basin, with a road network linking it to the occupied Golan. The rules include residential facilities, dispensaries and leadership centers, which “confirms the intention of the imbalance in the long survival”, according to activists from the governorate. On this, one of the farmers of the village of Ma’ra from the southwestern countryside of Daraa, which is located on the administrative borders with the Quneitra Governorate in the Yarmouk Basin area, said: “They destroyed our agricultural lands to tear military roads, they prevented us from entering 3000 dunums, and cattle are starving. But the land is more expensive than bread.” While Rami from the town of Hadar in Quneitra confirmed that the occupation had ended weeks ago from fortifying the headquarters it occupied at the foot of Jabal Al -Sheikh and the surrounding hills, and the construction that he built is clear and fully served, it is clear to the view, indicating that this indicates that the occupation confirms its intention to remain. During three and a half months, thousands of people went out in demonstrations in the cities of Khan Arnaba and the wood of wood, denouncing the occupation and incursions it was carrying out within the province, in which they raised the Syrian flag and chanted slogans confirming the identity of the Quneitra and the Syrian Golan, and refused to remain Israel.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military attacks on Syria, the last of which is Thursday, continued through a raid targeting what the Israeli army said was a center of the Islamic Jihad movement in Damascus “used to plan and direct activities to jihad against Israel.” Local sources confirmed to “Al -Arabi Al -Jadeed” that the attack targeted a residential house near the Hamsho roundabout in the Dummer project, northwest of Damascus. But a spokesman for “Jihad” Muhammad Al -Haj Moussa said that the aggression targeted an empty house and not a leadership headquarters of the movement.
