Palestinian student activist Mahmoud Khalil was arrested from his home in New York, from the US federal immigration authorities (March 8, 2025), which is only an introduction to “future arrests”, as President Donald Trump himself said. Before his completion of a master’s degree from Columbia University, Mahmoud Khalil was one of the students who led peaceful student sit -ins in American universities last year (2024), in protest against the United States’s support for the brutal Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip. It is known that most of these sit -ins defied them in a violent manner, in cooperation with the university administrations, which were separated or suspended studying a number of their students. Some of these sit -ins for the bloody attacks from thugs, some of whom are students supporting Israel, in front of the security forces, as well as at the University of California in Los Angeles (late April 2024). But Trump, unlike his predecessor, Joe Biden, is not concerned with the democratic packaging of repression and fascism, but rather expresses his intentions and motives with all rudeness and kindness, when he says that his administration “will not tolerate supportive, anti -Semital, and anti -American activities.”
Trump does not mean the truth here, because many students who were held against the Biden administration partnership in the crime of genocide in Gaza and the collusion of their universities with the Israeli occupation were Jews and Christians, white and black, and from all religious and ethnic backgrounds, including Palestinian, Arab students and Muslims, American and legal residents. As for Trump, as was the case under Biden administration, the latter’s tone was marked by a balance between the right to expression and the peaceful gathering protected by the first constitutional amendment, and between incitement and suppression of student movements under the pretext of their delinquency to intimidate or attack Jewish students and sabotage the property of universities … for Trump, student movements organized “captive and not students.” He does not hesitate to explicitly threaten by saying, “We will find these sympathizers with terrorism, arrest them, and leave them from our country and will never return.” He added: “If you support terrorism, including the killing of innocent men, women and children, your presence contradicts the interests of our national and external policy, and you are not welcome here. We expect from all American colleges and universities to comply.” Trump is not satisfied with this, but rather canceled 400 million dollars of scholarships and federal contracts for the University of Colombia, under the pretext of allowing “illegal protests”, although it was one of the universities that violated the right of its students to the peaceful sit -in, and allowed New York Security Forces to storm its sanctuary, suppression and arrest of its students.
The Trump administration has canceled $ 400 million of scholarships and federal contracts for the University of Colombia, under the pretext of allowing “illegal protests”.
We return to the story of Mahmoud Khalil, who is still in a federal prison in Louisiana to consider the Trump administration’s decision to deport him from the United States. Mahmoud, who is married to an eighth American citizen who carries permanent residence (green card), found himself a victim of a item in the migration and nationality law, outdated and returns to the era of the Cold War, allows federal immigration agents to arrest a permanent legal resident and detain him just to exercise his right to constitutionally protected freedom, if the Minister of Foreign Affairs concludes that the presence and activities of that person “may have consequences A possible tent on the US foreign policy. ” Immigration authorities rarely used this suspicious legal item, as evidence that most of the lawyers and members of Congress did not know its existence at all. However, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio relied on him in his endeavor to cancel and deport the permanent card of Mahmoud, without the trouble of interpreting and detailing how his presence and activities “may have possible severe consequences for the foreign policy of the United States.” As for the Ministry of National Security, which arrests Mahmoud, it has not mentioned a constitutional or legal text that allows him to arrest him, but that those responsible for it said that he is not accused of committing any crime at all. However, the ministry said in its statement that his arrest came “in support of the executive orders of President Trump, which prohibits anti -Semitism.” The ministry’s statement claimed that Mahmoud “led activities allied with Hamas, the terrorist organized organizer”, without providing any details or evidence.
Trump continues, developed and increased in brutality, the targeting of American activists opposed to Washington’s support for Israel.
Trump had signed in late January a executive decision to cancel student visas and deport “sympathizers with Hamas”. He also ordered the Ministry of Justice to “suppress the acts of sabotage and intimidation in support of Hamas, and to investigate the anti -Jewish racism in the left -wing and hostile universities of America and punish its perpetrators.” Trump’s descriptions here are false and inclusive. Student sit -ins were in their entirety and predominantly peaceful, and those who were exposed to discrimination are students opposed to Israel’s criminality, not the other way around, and American colleges and universities were mostly (and still) as a partner in suppressing any supportive voice of Palestinian rights. Hence, as Mahmoud’s lawyers and members of Congress concluded, his detention is illegal, but was chosen “an example of the fully suppressing the legitimate opposition in violation of the first constitutional amendment.” As the American Union of Civil Freedoms said, Mahmoud Khalil arrested “unprecedented, illegal, and non -American.” In fact, Zionist organizations, as a fight against distortion and personalities affiliated with the Zionist lobby, such as Allen Dorcotiz, are the ones who have incited students who support Palestinian rights, and every person dared to raise his voice opposed to the crime of Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, and the full American partnership in it.
The writer of these same lines, from a personal experience, realizes the truth of the American fascism, when it comes to Israel, and the matter does not differentiate here under the previous Biden administration or under the current Trump administration. Biden, the head of the Americans and the world, with his boring and repeated talk about “democracy in the face of democracy”, in the context of his comparison with the American model with the two models, Chinese and Russian, as well as repeatedly warned of the “danger” that Trump represents on American democracy. However, it is the Biden administration that began to target American activists opposed to supporting its administration of the Israeli brutality in the Gaza Strip, as many of these activists (some of them Jews) put in the lists of “suspects in terrorism”, their harassment in airports, and separated them from their jobs. As for Trump, he completes, developed, and increases the brutality of what Biden wrote. It is the American fascism that has many precedents over the past decades and centuries, wrapped in the cover of the allegations of “democracy”, “liberalism” and “human rights”. And who knows, even this article may be a government evidence one day against its writer under the pretext of “anti -America”. And who knows to any mysterious item that no one knows about in the American “legal repression” arsenal will be based on, the constitution and its amendments that protect freedom of expression, freedom of worship, the right to opposition, the right to gather and demonstrate … all of them today have been doubtful, skeptical and interested in the government in the name of defending the “interests of America’s supreme interests.”
