US President Donald Trump today (Thursday) expressed his willingness to speak about the armistice proposals in Ukraine with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, describing the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin very positively.
At the reception of the NATO Secretary General NATO, Mark Rawat at the White House, Trump expressed his desire that Russia agreed to a ceasefire in Ukraine, and to carry out the right thing, stressing: I hope to see a ceasefire from Russia, and we discussed the issue of Ukrainian lands, and we have already discussed many details in order to reach the final agreement.
He pointed out that he has influence in response to a question about whether the United States has effective means of influencing Putin, such as sanctions, indicating that he does not want to talk about it because they are currently communicating with them and based on the statements made today by Putin, I think it was very positive.
Trump added: We will see whether Russia is committed to that, and if it is not, it will be a very disappointing moment for the world, explaining that the American delegation is in Russia.
Trump ruled out that Russia would attack European countries in the future, saying: I do not think Russia will attack the United States’ allies, this will not happen, and we will be keen not to happen.
The US President described Putin’s comments as “very promising but she was not complete”, expressing his willingness to talk to his Russian counterpart.
He stressed: This war could have continued for a long time, we broke this stalemate, and I hope it has a meaning, and we must end the matter quickly in order to bring peace.
Trump’s comments came in conjunction with Putin’s consideration of a 30 -day ceasefire proposal in the war with Ukraine, “a good idea”, but he asked about the way this truce is implemented, especially since it is required that this lead to a permanent peace and treatment of the root causes of this conflict.
