The city of Muhammadiyah and its neighboring areas, during the current days of Ramadan, witnessed a gradual decrease in the prices of red meat, compared to a noticeable rise in vegetable prices; Which sparked a difference in the opinions of a number of residents of the city of Muhammadiyah, where some people were broken by the decline in the price of red meat, especially in the cowback and sheep, while others expressed concern about the increasing high cost of vegetables.
On a tour of some local markets and “Al -Suwaiqat” in the city of Muhammadiyah, a change in the general behavior of consumers was observed, as the demand for meat increased due to low prices; While the demand for vegetables was affected by its high cost, especially after the rainfall recorded by the Kingdom during these days.
Green prices
Muhammad al -Doukkali, a vegetable seller in a popular market in Muhammadiyah, said that “the prices of the vegetables in this popular market known for its low price witnessed a remarkable increase, as the price of green pepper reached 14 dirhams per kilogram, and Al -Jalbana is 20 dirhams, while the green beans enriched the price of 20 dirhams per kilogram.”
The same spokesman added, in a statement to the newspaper, Hespress, that “the turnip of its three types begins its price from 7 dirhams per kilogram, while the sheep reached 8 dirhams per kilogram, and potatoes to 6 dirhams per kilogram, while the price of tomatoes rose to 10 dirhams and more,” noting that “the sin is relatively high in popular markets, and highly raised in shops and major markets.”
Al -Doukkali explained that “onions are currently sold starting from 9 dirhams per kilogram, and small tomatoes known as ‘Syrians’ are sold in the popular market at 10 dirhams per kilogram, while the price of carrots stabilized at 6 dirhams; This represents in the general context a good increase compared to previous periods.
The vegetable seller stressed that “this height is due to many overlapping reasons. Like stopping crops due to rainfall, and the difficulty of accessing agricultural estates as a result of mud, in addition to stopping work by most of the cargo transport trucks pending the improvement of weather conditions, with a clear increase in the cost of labor in this rainy period.
After Al -Dukali warned that “the relatively lack of supply in the markets made prices rise significantly; This was reflected in the purchasing power of citizens who used to a fewer price in this popular market.
Retreat
Radwan Zouitni, President of the Regional Association of the Senate in Muhammadiyah, said that “the slight decline in the prices of red meat made the price of a kilogram of beef range between 95 dirhams and 105 dirhams. As for the prices that indicate 75 or 80 dirhams, they are suspicious and offered more than a question mark.
The spokesman added, in a statement to the electronic newspaper Hespress, that “the slight decline is registered in the prices of imported meat, whether slaughtered or alive. As for the local national herd, the price cannot reach what is being traded in the current days of prices that fall within the chaos that the sector knows.
The President of the Regional Association of the Peninsula in Muhammadiyah stressed that “the literature of trade and the ethics of the profession does not allow competition between the butchers in the way some of them adopt during these days, especially when they reach the exchange of abuse between professionals, and make tenders that open the door to question about the source and quality of that meat.”
The professional actor pointed out that “the Moroccan market is known in terms of the number of livestock that are sold in it daily, as well as its quality and prices. But the competition between professionals in the current way opens the door for practices that may reach the secret sacrifice and a set of illegal behaviors to sell meat at low and illogical prices.
Regarding the resort of a number of butchers in Muhammadiyah to reduce the price of meat during the past few days, Radwan Zouitni said: “If the low price was logical and regular, the major markets would be first to sell its meat at that price. This is what we do not see in the major markets at the present time, as the price is still as long as it was.
Radwan Zouitni concluded his clarifications by saying: “As long as the state supports the slaughtered and frozen cattle and meat, it is necessary to determine the ceiling of the price for selling meat to the consumer, while ensuring the activation of monitoring and tracking on the one hand, and educating the Moroccan citizen about what he has and what he has on the other hand so that there is no victim of practices that may harm his health.”
