The State of Qatar announced today, Thursday, a vital humanitarian initiative provided by the Qatar Development Fund to support Syria. The initiative includes providing supplies of natural gas across Jordanian territory for a specific period, with the aim of contributing to generating electrical energy starting from 400 megawatts, while working to gradually raise this energy. The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Syria called on the media to attend the announcement of this initiative, which will be disclosed today, Thursday, at Deir Ali Station, in the presence of the Syrian Electricity Minister Omar Sharouk, and the Qatari Chargé d’Affairs Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud.
This initiative aims to address the severe shortage of electricity production in Syria, and to improve the infrastructure performance of the electric sector in the country, within the framework of the steadfast commitment of the State of Qatar to support the Syrian people in the humanitarian, relief and development fields, in a way that contributes to reconstruction and progress in various sectors of the state.
The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Syria launched, with the support of the Qatar Development Fund, in the presence of Saad Muhammad Al -Qahtani, the second secretary at the embassy, a campaign to distribute breakfast to the orphanage in the capital, Damascus, in order to complete the project “Fasting breakfast”, with the aim of “strengthening solidarity with the brothers in Syria during the holy month of Ramadan”, according to the embassy, and was preceded by a similar project that targeted 1,000 families in the city of Daraya in Damascus, according to the embassy website.
