The Sudanese Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al -Burhan, confirmed today, Thursday, the army’s intention to liberate the country from “mercenaries and agents and eliminate rapid support.” This came during a speech to the proof in the city of Omdurman, west of Khartoum, during the performance of condolences in Major General Bahr Ahmed Bahr, who was killed in the crash of a military plane in Omdurman on February 25, according to a statement of the Sudanese army.
Al -Burhan, who is responsible for the Sudanese army, stressed that “the Sudanese armed forces will remain an impenetrable dam against all those who begged themselves to prejudice the security and stability of Sudan.” He added: “We renew the determination to liberate the country from mercenaries and agents and eliminate the terrorist support militia.” There was no comment from the Rapid Support Forces on Al -Burhan’s statements.
And the past month, Al -Burhan stressed that “there is no negotiation or bargaining with those who took up arms against the state and the people.” Al -Burhan said, “The armed forces will not abandon everyone who carried weapons and fought alongside them in the war of dignity (against the rapid support forces), and they will be partners in any political project in the country, and we will not exclude anyone.” He added: “There is no negotiation or compromise with those who carried weapons against the state and the people, and we are continuing on the path of victory until the last inch of the country from the (forces) of rapid support.”
Since April 2023, the Sudanese army and the “Rapid Support Forces” have been fighting war that left more than 20,000 dead and about 15 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and local authorities, while a search for American universities estimated the number of deaths by about 130,000. For weeks and with accelerating pace, the areas of “quick support” control began to decrease in favor of the army in the states of Khartoum and Al -Jazeera, the White Nile, North Kordofan, Sennar and the Blue Nile. In the state of Khartoum, consisting of 3 cities, the army has fully controlled the “city of Bahri” in the north, most parts of the “city of Omdurman” in the west, and 75% of the depth of the “city of Khartoum”, which mediates the state and contains the presidential palace and the international airport, while “rapid support” is still in the eastern and southern neighborhoods of the city.
