The Norwegian Minister of International Development, Azmend Akost, held Israel responsible for the difficult humanitarian situation faced by the population in the Gaza Strip, accusing it of kidnapping the Palestinians and hiding them in the West Bank.
He added – in an interview with Al -Jazeera – that Gaza is facing a very difficult situation at the present time because of the continued prevention of Israel from arriving in aid, food, water and electricity, although it is obligated to facilitate the arrival of these matters.
He stressed the importance of continuing to deliver aid to the residents of the Strip despite the fragility of the ceasefire agreement, stressing that this matter falls on Israel in the first place.
The Norwegian Minister stressed the necessity of raising the world’s voice in order to deliver aid to the Palestinians who live under the weight of the occupation, especially under the new American administration.
He called for a joint European pressure to give hope to those people who live hell because of the occupation, whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or occupied Jerusalem.
Akost said that his country is doing its best with European partners and the Middle East to put pressure on Israel, stressing that there is no alternative to the political solution to this crisis.
The situation is worse
He explained that his country supports any peace plan in Palestine, and said that the situation in the West Bank has become in its worst cases since 1967, when thousands of Palestinians were arrested and forcibly hidden.
The Norwegian Minister described the UNRWA UNRWA agency as a lifeline for Palestinians in various countries of the region, and said that his country will continue to work with it and its political and financial support regardless of Israeli decisions.
He considered that the delivery of aid to the residents of Gaza is the most urgent thing at the present time, because they have not received aid for two weeks, adding that the next important step is to move forward in the reconstruction of the Strip.
The statements of Minister Norwegian came after the United Nations Independent Investigation Committee confirmed that Israel has committed widespread violations against the Palestinians in all occupied lands since October 7, 2023.
The committee stated in a press conference that the Israeli army has a map of health facilities and its competencies, and that it destroyed it in a deliberate manner, confirming the existence of evidence of the systematic targeting of institutions and health facilities.
She also affirmed that children suffer from health dilemmas as a result of water pollution, cold and hunger, and said that it adopts the term genocide to describe what Israel is doing.
