All primary and high school schools in Beijing intend to provide educational classes on artificial intelligence as of the next academic year, according to the new China News Agency (Xinhua) on Wednesday.
The artificial intelligence industry in China has received international attention this year after Deepseek launched a new version of the AI in January, which caused a shock wave across global markets.
The “Deep Seck” program impressed the industry experts for its clear ability to compete or even exceed the capabilities of Western competitors such as “Chat BT”, at a much lower cost.
The “Xinhua” agency reported that the schools in the capital will allocate at least eight hours of artificial intelligence lessons for each academic year starting from the semester that begins in early September.
Schools can manage these materials as an independent shares or merge them into basicly existing academic subjects such as IT or science.
“Innovative teaching methods will be provided, using accompanying devices and research assistance tools with artificial intelligence, and other smart aid programs to facilitate learning through dialogue between human and the machine.”
She noted that Beijing is also planning to explore more opportunities for cooperation between universities and secondary schools to develop talent in the field of artificial intelligence.
This includes the development of a series of “advanced education courses in the field of artificial intelligence, which focuses on early development of exceptional innovative talents.”
Last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping had talks with senior businessmen in the Chinese technology sector, in a rare event that caused optimism about increasing support for the sector.
Xi enhanced the role of state -owned companies in the second largest economy in the world, and also tackled the “irregular” expansion in many sectors.
Deep Seck was praised by the authorities, and its founder attended the meeting with the Chinese president.
The attention is currently turning to the new artificial intelligence programs in China, seeking to compete with “Deep Seck”.
The giant Chinese technology company “Ali Baba” revealed last week an artificial intelligence model called QWQ-32B, saying that he has “similar performance” to “Deep Seck” while requires much lower data to work.
In addition, Manus, a new and powerful, artificial intelligence assistant, is a stir in the country, with capabilities that are generally more advanced than those in conversation robots.
