National Security Council in Syria and the fact -finding committee begins its work in Lattakia

The Syrian presidency announced – yesterday, Wednesday, the formation of the National Security Council in the country with the participation of 3 ministers, while the fact -finding committee will start its work in Lattakia Governorate today, Thursday.

According to a presidential decision issued by President Ahmed Al -Shara, the council consists of the ministers of defense, interior and foreign affairs, the director of intelligence, consultants and another technical.

The Syrian presidency clarified that the council’s work mechanism is determined by the directives of the President of the Republic to ensure effective coordination between institutions.

Meanwhile, sources told Al -Jazeera that the draft drafting committee will announce the draft declaration today, Thursday, after submitting it to Sharia.

According to these sources, the constitutional declaration will focus on the concept of transitional justice, the necessity of its application, and the criminalization of the ousted system.

The sources added that the constitutional declaration will limit the weapon in the hands of the state, and the army will take over the task of protecting the country and the citizen and preserving the civil peace.

It also emphasized that the constitutional declaration will focus on human freedoms, separating the authorities, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary.

According to sources for the island, the constitutional declaration was based on the spirit of the previous Syrian constitutions, especially the 1950 constitution, and the transitional period of rule will be between 3 years and 5 years, and that the new government will not include the position of prime minister, and the form of the state will be presidential.

The constitutional declaration will criminalize external calls and communications that threaten the security, stability and unity of the country, and will define the basic powers of the President of the Republic.

Fact -finding committee

On the other hand, the governor of Lattakia told Al -Jazeera that the fact -finding committee will start its work in the province.

Earlier, the committee stated that it is working to prepare a list of potential involvement in the violence in the country in recent days, and has killed hundreds.

The committee affirmed, in a press conference in the Syrian capital, Damascus, its independence and commitment to the criteria “neutrality in accordance with national and international rules”, noting that it will soon announce the mechanisms of communication with them.

Cities in the Syrian coast, including Latakia and Tartous, have witnessed security tension on the occurrence of coordinated attacks on the remnants of the Bashar al -Assad regime – the most violent since its fall – against patrols, security barriers and hospitals, and killed dozens of dead and wounded by the military and civilians.

On the ground, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted a source in the Ministry of Defense that a group of the remnants of the defunct regime tried to attack a military barracks gate in Lattakia countryside.

The source added that the attack was thwarted and 4 attackers were arrested.
